Question Protien Drink

Anyone out there know of a decent protien drink for breakfast - not one that tastes like cardboard ? I think this sounds like a good way to have breakfast on those days were one is rushing and no time for cooked what have you.
Any ideas on other breakfasts would help.
Thanks a million

Sure do.
Red Back have a range of 'shakes' including one called WPi (Whey Protein Isolate) ...it has .3 carbs per serving (glass) ..I mix it with water. Tastes better with milk but that's bad ...It also contains all the essential and non essential amino acids. I have been using it for 4 weeks now and have shed 8kgs. It comes in a myriad of flavours (Vanilla Sting is best!)
It's expensive to buy but lasts a life time, works out at something like $5/week.

Sounds good - where do you get it from? What quantities does it come in? Price?

Questions, questions!!

I'm in Adelaide and get it from my local Health Food Shop. We get the 750g container and it costs $51.50 ...but like I said works out to $5/week or so. You only have 2 teaspoons per glass (3 for men) I think u can buy it in upto 2kgs tubs. The Health shop has Brochures on it. They (Red Back) also make other powders for anything from muscle bulking to viagra alternatives ...can't say I have tried these though :P www.redbak.net 1800 RED BAK

The redback range sounds good. A bit pricey though, $52 for 750gm. But then that's convenience in a flavoured pack. Their website even says they use stevia to sweeten all their products. That's unheard of for any Australian products. I'll definitely keep an eye out for their products next time I'm in the health food store.

Currently, I make a yummo protein shake. I use this whey protein isolate from Balance Technology, 1.5kg costs $64. It's .3g of carbs per serve or something. Really low. This is pure unflavoured protein isolate. I use:
- 2 scoops of protein powder
- a couple of tables spoons of cream
- a dollop of sour cream
- a couple of generous teaspoons of plain yoghurt
- teaspoon of psyllium husks (for the fibre)
- stevia
- a splash of vanilla flavouring

Shake it all up and you have a shake that tastes like ice cream!! It is beautiful! For better results, put it in the coldest part of the fridge, and it'll taste even better. I might even try an ice cream recipe with his

I just looked up vitaminzone.com.au - they are based here in Melbourne in Prahran and sell Red Bak 750g for $25.95 + $5.95 delivery fee (2-3 days) - much cheaper than you're paying!

Even the 1.5kg is only $48.95!

They seem very cheap on all the other brands too. I'm lucky - being just around the corner from Prahran I can go into the store and pick it up there and skip the delivery fee.

has anyone tried designer whey shakes?? there on special at the moment at my local GNC for $19.95, I think the tin size was 12oz??!

I'd love to hear anyone's opinion on this, considering purchasing for quick brekkie option, is 2gr carbs too high for a shake?.......eggs..hmm I think my body needs a little time off from them

cheers,
cathie

I buy pure WPI from the health food shop and almost every morning I have a smoothie to start the day:
1 cup lactose free yoghurt (this reduces the carbs to 3%)
few frozen berries for flavour
30 g WPI slurp of flax seed oil

The best investment I ever made was a Bamix! Sally
