Not sure if its because I've changed my diet so much or if its the fact I'm taking Potassium bicarbonate salts, but I've never had such a large amount of menstural flow. It's strange. Anyone else have this change. This is my 1st period since my diet started 4 weeks ago. I also have bad thyroid disease so I'm wondering now if that's out of wack.

Yup, dieting will always affect your thyroid. And if you have low thyroid function, it is typical to have period trouble, isn't it?

I've read here on this forum that going too low carb is not good for people with thyroid problems. How low is your low-carb diet - i.e. in terms of grammes of carbs per day?

It can take a few months for things to get sorted when you start a diet, however it is good to keep in mind that low thyroid function can make your flow harder. It might not hurt to go get your thyroid tested again.

Thanks San Diego and Germany, too places I'd love to see some day. I decided to lower my potassium bicarbonate and eat some raw sunflower seeds. The birds love those seeds all winter so there must be something to them... Ill re test my thyroid soon. Thanks for your advice . I was in high ketosis for certain according to my sweet breath and strip tests.. Going a bit over board to start for sure.

My flow has improved greatly since I started treating my thyroid issues, from unmanageable to normal, so yes maybe getting your thyroid sorted will help.
