It has been ascribed all sorts of benefits. One is that it is supposed to lower blood sugar. Which is a good one for us. I'd take it after eating thought.
Oddly enough, it helps my IBS-D a whole lot. No idea why.
I would take it by adding a T. to a small amount of water and drink it down asap. Then I rinse my mouth so the acid isn't hard on the teeth.
If I put it in 12-16 oz of water it isn't unpleasant to me. Kind of refreshing.
I think sourness is lessened as you age. I remember my mother could tolerate all sorts of sour I couldn't stand when I was a kid. Now I find that something like a T. of vinegar in 3 oz of water is doable, as long as I chug it.
I think the usual dose is 1 tsp but I felt 1 T. (once a day) was better for me. 3x a day would be a bit much.
