Hi everyone and HAPPY NEW YEAR! I have a feeling 2008 is going to be good... that puppy is just delightful! And Nancy...hang in there. I was sober for 10 years and relapsed 3 times since trying to get back here in 2000. The screwed up part is that I omnly drink for a day or two and come crawling back in the rooms...what is the point? INSANITY! Anyway...you are loved here and we are all loved...we are never alone...we have each other and a loving GOD.

Hi everyone, tomorrow is my 16 year Anniversary! BF's DD is still crictical, so he can't be here with me, but we will go out with my sponser this weekend. I will just be happy to announce it at my meeting and trade in my 15 year coin. I love being a sober woman today. I still remember how hard it was to live when all I could think about was getting more to drink.

liddie, congrats on the 16 years! That's so awesome.

Way to keep it one day at a time, particularly with what's been going on lately.

Way to go Liddie!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ok, gang...I gotta post this here. I think this is one of the funniest recovery-related emails I've ever gotten. Enjoy!

How to Stay Awake in AA Meetings - A Public Service Announcement

Do you keep falling asleep in meetings? What about those long and boring drunkalogs?

Here is a way to change all that...

1. Before (or during) your next meeting, prepare yourself by drawing a square. I find that a 5" x5" is a good size.

Divide the card into columns-five across and five down. That will give you 25 one-inch blocks.

2. Write one of the following word/phrases in each block:

Such as:

Issues
Inner-child
Living Amends
Meaningful Relationship
Slip
I'm Stuck On Step __
I Couldn't Find A Meeting
My Sponsor Has Been Out Of Town
Can't
Won't
Yeah But
But Don't You Think
Misunderstood
Never
Rational Recovery
Recovering Person
Searching ( as in for answers)
Waiting For God to Answer......
Huh
Gonna (sometimes prefaced with: "I'm")
Been thinking (sometimes prefaced with: "I've")
She/He said
Dysfunctional
I heard
Rage
I don't know much about this, but...
Ya know
Overall Scheme of Things

3. Check off the appropriate block when you hear one of those words or phrases?

4. When you get five blocks horizontally, vertically, or diagonally, stand up and shout "BULLSHIT!"

TESTIMONIALS FROM SATISFIED "AA BULLSHIT BINGO" PLAYERS:

--"I had been in the meeting for only five minutes when I won."
Adam W., Atlanta

--"My attention span at meetings has improved dramatically.
David T., Tampa

--"What a gas! Meetings will never be the same for me after my first win."
Dan J., NY City

--"The atmosphere was tense in the last "Honesty" meeting as 14 of us waited for the fifth box.
Ben G., Denver

--"The speaker was stunned as eight of us screamed "BULLSHIT" for the third time in 20 minutes."

Hey. A friend and I made AA BS bingo cards and took them with us to a meeting the other day. We played quietly, though...no jumping up and shouting "BULL****" as we decided we didn't want to have to make amends later. Or get the crap beat out of us by some cranky oldtimer.

We worked out some hand signals instead. She got a bingo before me! We sure did pay close attention to the whole meeting...

How long have you known them? It will be 3 years for me in January and I have 54 days of back to back abstinence form the food.

Are you in a food group? I had "abstinence" for a while , but a lot more emotional
obsessive food behaviors trying not to "break" abstinence than eating freely .Oh I see it now, greysheet, sorry.

That's interesting in 20yrs, the only time I ever get sleepy at a meeting was when I haven't had enough sleep, someone sharing "bullshit " at a meeting might keep them from sharing it in a bar. Our table leader usually stops the runways At least after the meeting they can get called on it, I guess whatever works though.
