I'm not so sure about induction, but my fave tortilla is Mama Lupe's Low Carb Tortilla. It's three grams of effective carbs. (Lots of fiber.) You can find it at Super Wal-Mart.

I don't care for any of the lc tortillas that I've tried, but then I never liked flour tortillas before lc. Only the crispy corn taco shells.

That said, I now like to fry up some grated cheddar cheese, remove the fried cheese circle with a spatula and let it cool in a "bended" shape, then fill it with whatever I'm in the mood for.

For lunch today, I just ate the cheese "tortilla" with thinly sliced leftover London Broil steak and salad greens. The oil in the cheese was enough so that it didn't need any mayo or other condiments.

I really like LATortilla's, I buy them at Piggly Wiggly, I think Super Walmart might carry them also. I bought a pizza oven, like they have in some bars or taverns, it only cost 60 bucks and cooks those tortillas up nice and crispy! Also great for reheating burgers etc...........

Hi -

After induction try the La Tortilla Factory brand! They are great, especially toasted. They have really helped me keep on this WOE. I don't eat much of the other lc products, however, the tortillas have a some fiber as well.

Good luck!

I can't seem to find the Mama Lupe's at my Super Wal-Mart. I'm sick to death of LaTortilla Factory...I think they're rubbery and yucky tasting. I want to know what brand Subway uses, because those are fantastic...

I agree with Hilary the La Tortilla's arent as palatable as they used to be for somereason. The Subway wraps are awsome. I asked a Subway manager and he said that the company makes their own :-(. Never tried the Moma Lupe's though.

I've only tried LaTortilla. The only way I can handle them is fried in oil. Haven't tried the wraps at Subway.

Being allowed only 20 carbs on induction, I think the Good Dr believed you should consume veggies to make up the bulk those carbs.

I agree with the posters above that do not find the La Tortilla brand appealing any more. After coming out of induction I purchased a bunch of them and froze them.. all but the one package I opened are still sitting in the freezer. I can very rarely handle them crispy/tostada style, but plain out of the package: GAG.

Atkins wants all grains removed from the diet during induction and the bulk of OWL.

We basically just eat meat, vegetables and the small amount of allowable dairy.

Wheat, yeasts, other grains are responsible for undiagnosed allergies in many people and also contribute to making yeast problems worse. Candida, IBS and so on.

So they are removed cmpletely to begin with and reintroduced on the final rung of the OWL ladder. That's generally as you approach your goal. Premaintainance traditionally begins within about 10 lbs of goal, so just before that.

Santa Fe Tortilla Factory makes GREAT LC flour tortillas-they taste like TORTILLAS! They may be regional, though. I heard Bueno Foods is going to make a LC tortilla, so if your grocery stocks Bueno foods you might see their LC tortillas soon. Hopefully they'll be yummy too!

we have a local little health food store that carries a wrap that is almost identical to the subway ones. search out the small places they tend to carry specialty items.

I like La Tortillas, but have found an even lower carb alternative....Green Leaf Lettuce. It now comes pre-washed and "ready-to-go" I wrap everything in it...eggs, sliced deli meat, cheese. I've even made BLT's (minus the bread). The leaves are huge and flat (not spiney like Romaine!)

I know you could have this on Induction!
Best Wishes,
Sherry
