“Macaroni became ‘pasta’ on the same day the hobo became ‘the homeless,’ the trailer house became the ‘mobile home’ and stock-car racing became ‘NASCAR.’”

And 'gravy' became 'spaghetti sauce', 'local beers' became 'craft beers', 'fraud' became 'fake news', police men and women became 'law enforcement officers', 'jails' became 'correctional facilities', what is essentially a 'station wagon' with a boxier shape became a 'sports utility vehicle' when there is absolutely nothing sporty about it, 'computer programs' became 'apps', and so on.

I guess I joined you on that tangent, because the evolution of language is a source of amusement to me.

BTW, white vinegar diluted with water is a good weed killer for cracks in sidewalks and between paving stones. And unlike "Round-up" and so many other herbicides, isn't classified as a carcinogen.

I've heard fizzing baking soda and vinegar cleans slow drains too. I had no luck with it, but a plunger or a snake usually work fine.
