Default Pregnant and due Early Fall!

Hi there!
My name is Joy and I'm expecting my 4th child end of Sept/beginning of Oct. I started LC'ing (Atkins to be specific) on December 28th, 2009. I lost 10 pounds in the first 2 weeks! Then, BAM I got pregnant! I really want to keep up with this WOL during my pregnancy and not gain much weight. (I weighed 215.2 just before getting pregnant). I really think I can do this, but am worried about my fluxuating hormones, emotions, physical sicknesses, etc, etc.
I'm 5 weeks today and have already flubbed up a few times in the past couple weeks. I believe I've kicked myself out of ketosis and really want to get back on track for good!
I've been feeling VERY emotional lately and can't seem to shake my cravings for SWEETS and various other carby foods.
I saw that someone started a "Pregnant and Due in March" thread, but I'm hoping there is someone out there who is closer to my due date who can walk this journey with me.
Take care!

While I was pregnant I stayed around 70 grams of carbs a day-I did indulge and I sitll gained but to be honest after she was born it came off fairly easy! I am 12lbs away from where I was before she was born and she just turned 7 month on Saturday and I took three months of for October, November and Dec (Holidays get me everytime)!

Good Luck Ladies and Congrats!

Wow!!! No way! This is so awesome!!! I really want to stay LC during my preg too because I know it will help me SOOO much! I started Dec 28th and I lost 10 pounds before I got pregnant. I'm really hoping that I've gained enough knowledge and understanding to keep this going for the next 7 1/2 months! I am 5 weeks 3 days today! How far along are you?
I got back the results of my first beta and progesterone this morning and my midwife says they are normal! I am scheduled for an ultrasound on Friday Feb 5th! I'm so excited!!! I can't wait to see my little baby!

I am 6 weeks. Due date as I calculate Sept 24th.

You're using a midwife? That is awesome! Is she hospital or homebirth? I will be using a midwife too. I don't normally schedule an appt untill I'm close to 3 mo though. I will be trying for a vba3c ( vaginal birth after 3 c-sections) So I am really serious about being as healthy as possible. I am planning on doing the Leslie Sansone Walk Away the Puonds dvd's. And keeping my carbs down around 20 for the first three months at least. I have always lost weight in the first three months (lc or not) . I will shoot for maintaining my wieght, with a gain of no more than 15lb.

My babies tend to be largish 8.2-9.4lb so homepfully keeping the sugar in my diet low I can prevent a HUGE baby

Hi all! I am new here, just joined tonight because I found out I'm pregnant with baby 3, due this fall! I am worried because I have been low carbing since July '09 and was not trying to conceive (happy surprise!). After reading some of the threads on this board I'm not quite as scared but still worried. I don't want to gain back the 60 pounds I worked so hard to lose but I don't want to harm my baby either! Thanks to all of you who share your experiences, they are an encouragement to me!

Thanks NinaS! I was eating around 20 a day when I became pregnant. Sometimes a little more, sometimes less. Couldn't figure out why I wasn't losing weight until I missed my period! I guess my body was taking care of the baby even though I was eating low carb which must be the reason I wasn't losing anything! I am now eating around 50 or so a day, depending on how I feel. I am finding that it's not as easy as I thought to add the carbs back in, they actually make me feel worse. At least some of them do.

It's really good to know that there are midwives and doctors who support this diet during pregnancy, I think it will make a huge difference in my health during this one. My first two, I felt awful all the time. I'm hoping this time will be different. We'll see!

I lost about 15lb with my first two, then gained that back, so I don't worry too much about losing weight.....but then it kind of runs in the family, my mom always lost weight when preg.

I need to watch my stupid carbs closer I am having a terrible time!

Default Pregnancy symtpoms

How have you all been feeling during this pregnancy while low carbing? This is my first pregnancy low carbing and I'm not nearly as nauseated as my other pregnancies. I had a couple bad days, but nothing like the others. All in all I feel pretty good, unless of course, I'm speaking too soon and I will regret this post. I'm almost 7 weeks along if that makes any difference.

I am 10 wks, and I think the nausea is starting to let up a bit.... it has been way hard to get the protein in. I find if I just gag past the first bite I can generally do ok. how are the rest of you doing?

I went for my first prenatal appointment yesterday. I was so happy to find out that my doctor is completely on board with my low carb diet!! He agreed completely that I should continue with the diet and he says it will absolutely NOT harm baby. It was such a relief to hear this from him because I knew that if he didn't like the diet, it would be so much harder on me to stay on it. I haven't gained anything but have lost a couple pounds which is normal for me in the first trimester. I lost with both my other kiddos too. He said everything looks good!

Is there anyone else out there, NinaS, besides us still commenting?? I love hearing how others are doing as well!

Sorry it took me so long to post, it's been crazy around here with sick kids and stuff.

I am so glad your doc is on board! Hooray! You're going to have a great LC pregnancy.

I keep checking in on the other ladies, but not much seems to be going on here. I understand it can be SO HARD to stay LC with pregnancy cravings....but SO worth it!

Hope you're well this week!

I have been low-carbing since July, and I'll be honest, since my wedding in October, have been pretty lax with my diet. I have maintained my weight... somehow.

Found out yesterday that I am pregnant; and figuring I should buckle down and smarten up. (well, after an indulge night of celebration *rolleyes*)

So, I too will join you all in the support. I am "just" pregnant, and due date will be mid-November.

Congrats to all of you.
