Default TTC - Need a book on LC!

Hello,

We have been trying for 3 months now so hopefully third time is the charm! Is there any good book on low-carbing while pregnant? I tried looking but I have no patience lately for doing my own research. Bit lazy as of late I guess.

Hmmm. You're right. Perhaps I should change it. If I can figure out how that is.

i wish there was a book on lc pregnancy. Theres a lowcarb gyne who has his ttc and pregnant ladies on lc to prevent miscarriage. Dr. Fox There are some diet sheets floating around about his diet plans but i dont have a copy yet.

I read an old blog post (circa 2009?) by loren cordain that said his next book would have a chapter about paleo pregnancy. Not really a fan of his low fat, eat lots of rice viewpoint though. Blech.

Walnut. Is there any particular reason you don't have dairy?
Did you tell your OB that you are LC during pregnancy? What was his/her reaction? I am on the fence about telling mine. It isn't like I eat nothing but meat, but it seems that is what comes to mind for most people. My diet is almost exactly like yours with the exception of dairy. I love my yogurt!

i dont do well with dairy. There are so many other ways to get calcium anyways.

I'm not sure about how i'll describe my diet if i'm asked about it. I'd probably just list what i'm eating~lots of fresh veggies, eggs, chicken, fish, no junkfood etc and not bother to mention the words lowcarb because of the stigma. I dont want to get into it and i dont need a lecture, yknow? Lots of other things to talk about. With my first i dont really remember my ob asking about what i was eating other than telling me to get enough protein.

I'll do just that then. Give the long list rather than the short. Thanx.

Hi and congratulations!

This book - Healing Our Children - by Ramiel Nagel is very detailed on the topic and will truly assist you on the way as it is doing for us

You can also surf through the website of Weston Price, especially this article:
http://www.westonaprice.org/childre...nursing-mothers

As well as Paleo Diet, but normal one, WITH fats.

Plus all of this forum

Good luck!

Probably a lot of women who have miscarriages are undiagnosed celiacs. They have a very hard time carrying a child.

eos thanks for the book recc. I usually stay away from the weston price stuff bc it's so carb heavy but looking at the website there's some good info there. Id skip the potatoes that he talks about though!

I'm pretty sure I don't have celiac. I can eat pretty much anything with no digestive troubles. I'll just get fat! I did read that eating LC will increase your fertility odds so thats a nice bonus. I figured that I will just do what I am doing now just incease the amount of good LC veggies and have some fruits. Oh and the occasional bowl of oatmeal. I really like oatmeal!
