Have you tried The Paleolithic Diet Nutrition page http://www.paleodiet.com/ There are lots of articles here. There is a good article by Ben Blazer, family physician, called Introduction to the Paleo diet which is simple and easy to read. I stumbled into what I called Nature's Diet because I had very bad heartburn, especially when I ate bread. As soon as I stopped eating bread my heartburn stopped and my weight started to drop. I was delighted. This sent me searching for similar patterns of eating. I am not strictly Paleo because I include dairy and a bit of potato, plus a cream scone very infrequently. This did not affect my weight or my blood pressure which went down nicely on this pattern of eating. I have never tried Atkins because it seems to strict for me. I do appreciate Atkins though because I believe he has helped thousands of people to lose weight. Hope these articles are of use to you.

Sayria,

Atkins is very strict in the beginning and as time goes on you add foods back in.

The problem is that people equate the induction phase of Atkins with the whole Atkins program.

When you are in Maintenance for Atkins nothing really is off limit (except trigger foods i.e. those foods that cause you to binge if you are binge eater like me)

Thanks for the link. if you haven't checked out Mark's daily apple his site is full of info.

Being brave and trying OWL again. EEKK! It's a mental thing I know. Loving the almonds though.
Tried the 10 min fast and furious at the gym in the pool. UUHHH yeah try 2 min.
Plus my son snuck a water pistol in the pool. LOL that did make for quite a game of chase.
I'll check out all these links! I like to research stuff like this.

Regarding carbs and fruit etc. I found out that I had an intolerance to casein about 4 years into doing low carb/high fat that included a lot of dairy. I have added back in fruit to my diet and find it has absolutely no effect on my appetite or the scale. I was terrified to start eating it again imagining I would just be hungry all the time. It was the wheat and grains that did that to me, not fruit. What I'm saying is that sometimes the TYPE of food not the carbs or whatever is what matters regarding cravings and weight gain.

I managed to gain weight eating VLC (including lots of cheese!) so carbs are not the only thing that can affect you - for me dairy was the deal breaker with a low carb diet - especially cow cheese.

Yes, this is exactly my experience as well, I eat fruit as much as I want, and meat. Mind you am not trying to lose weight, I am just saying its not having any adverse effects, I have no cravings for other carbage (grains/sugar based or chocolate) and I am fitting nicely in all my small clothes.
