CHuntress, if you use the search icon located on the right at the top of every page (the globe icon) you'll find out more than you could possibly want about "low carb bars" - I assure, it's an eyeopening experience

Default I'm confused about the Atkins products

Hi all...

I'm kinda confused about which way to go on the Hidden Carb issue with Atkins products. I wrote to them about it.. the Atkins Centre.. and they assured me that the number of carbs listed were the usable carbs. Yes, there were additional carbs in the product (hidden carbs) but they were carbs that would not affect insulin, ketosis, etc.

I suppose its a try and see how it affects you scenario.. because everyone is different (I haven't tried them yet).

But I was wondering if anyone is using these products, and still losing successfully?

Cheers
Kim

Hi Kim..

I too have been wondering that. I wrote them also about the same thing..and they assured me also that the count was the true count.

I would be really interested to know what the deal is.

Also, I have a low carb one that I found...that only has 3 g in it..but it does list malitol too. Any ideas how we find how many hidden carbs the malitol has?

Laura

Default hidden carbs

Okay..

I found doreens post about it after I posted here. I did find out how many hidden carbs were in my supposedly 'low carb' bars..
It said there were only 4..

They had 22 in there..I am soooooooo disappointed.. I use them on the nites that I have to run from one campus to another..just so darn convenient..so I will have to rethink this for sure..

Very disappointing..

Right, the are lots of "hidden carbs" but what the Atkins Centre says is that is the "4" carb value are the carbs that are usable ones. i.e. the "hidden carbs" do not affect insulin or inhibit weight loss on low carb WOE. I have read the articles about hidden carbs, but I find it so hard to believe Atkins would damage reputation by putting out a product that negatively impacts.

I don't know who to believe.
Perhaps I am too naive and trusting.

Smile My two cents

I think you really have to listen to your body, If you don't feel good after you eat one or you notice you aren't loseing or you are holding water, then stop.
My problem is a little different. I can't eat soy protein. Oh does it make me ill! Sigh... but you know. I don't miss candy bars at all, after LCing for 5 months.
