Review calls for sugar labels to show images of teaspoons of sugar

There is pushback from the beverages industry to the proposal to show how many teaspoons of sugar there are in sweetened drinks
Pictures showing how many teaspoons of sugar there are in sweetened drinks could be made compulsory under a proposal health ministers have earmarked for further investigation.
The Australia and New Zealand Ministerial Forum on Food Regulation ordered a review into the proposal, which has been welcomed by public health experts and parents’ groups but has already received pushback from the beverages industry.
On Monday the minister’s forum called for a review into the labelling of added sugars in food and drinks, “noting that the option to quantify added sugars in the nutrition information panel best met the desired outcome”.
Solution: some drinks will require tablespoons or they'll run out of label.
My vision for a label like this would be a number overlaid on top of an image of a single teaspoon, rather than rows and rows of teaspoons a la David Unwin's graphics. Although I suppose even then, you'd still need an image big enough to clearly display at least 2 digits, hehe.

I approve! That's going to take up the same amount of real estate each time: crucial for a flexible design.
" ... instead of teaspoon [skull] symbols might work better."
Better than the slippery slope of the government taxing sugar IMO!
There was a website called "Sugar Stacks" that showed how many equivalent sugar cubes are in many processed foods. Would be a much higher pile if starches were included as sugar, which they ultimately are.

I agree. What an arresting visual. I am imagining what the aisles would look like THEN.
