Hi Alonda:
After reading your post I just had to come out of lurkdom. So anyone who recognizes me, I slipped up but I'm back on the wagon! I learned my lesson. Hi, my name is Rita and I am a carboholic. Hi Rita!
Anyway Alonda, our stats are just about identical. I am also 26 years old and, up until two weeks ago, I also weighed 330 pounds. Obesity runs rampant in my father's family. Unfortunately, I seemed to have inherited all of my DNA from my dad. (I have cousins whom I resemble more than my actual sisters - who favor our mom).
Diabetes, heart disease, and cancer are all prominant in both sides of my family. My father has 6 brothers and every single one of them had either a stroke or heart attack at age 59. Three of my uncles have or had diabetes - two have already passed away. I am also scared spitless.
You
are worth the trouble of changing your way of eating. Don't let anyone tell you otherwise, especially yourself.
You have stumbled onto the most wonderful and supportive group of people to help you through this process. We are all in the same boat.
Last year at this time I started this WOE for the first time. In four months I dropped 60 pounds. It was difficult at first but I changed my routine, didn't drive by my old fast food haunts, walked a couple times a week, and stuck to it.
The first few days will be hard as your body is trying to adapt and detox. After that you cravings will begin to vanish. Check out the recipe sections on this forum, I couldn't survive without them.
Check in regularly and keep us up to date. Don't be afraid to ask questions. We are here to support you when you are having problems and we are here to celebrate your successes.
Good luck!!!
Rita
