Default Vit D levels

I had my Vit D level checked several months ago while I was taking 2,000 IU per day. It was 38. So I started to take 10,000 IU daily and had it checked again this week. I was thrilled to see that my blood level is now 85. The doctor told me to back off to 7500 IUs per day and we will recheck in 6 months. I guess I am even more thrilled that my doctor approves of this level. He is just concerned that if I keep taking this much, it will be stored in my body and also that it may absorb too much calcium. So I am backing off the calcium a little.

Healthy range is at least 60. Average is 30... which is too low, because almost everyone is too low!

Atrsy, are you taking magnesium?

Actually the govt said that 32-100 is healthy, but on my last test they said that as of Nov. 1, that will change to 30-100. But everywhere I've read about Vit D3, they say you should have it between 60-100--preferably 80 or above.

I do take one magnesium a day and the bottle recommends 2. My doctor is concerned that I may be getting too much calcium because of the high level of D3, so I have cut back and no longer take the calcium every day. He is also concerned about the build-up of D3 and has recommended that I back it off to 7500 IUs a day.

I feel better and I have finally started to lose weight which had seemed impossible for the past 20 years. I think that is because I am much healthier now.
