Default Sunflower Seeds?

Well this is just another of my questions. When i starting low carb i gave up the sunflower seeds. I love sunflower seeds!!!!! I have been reading other peoples posts and they have said that these seeds are fine and are infact low carb. I really want to believe it but my carb counter book lists them as moderate but not low in carbs. Does anyone know? Also, does anyone know if they have good carbs because of what they contain (oil and fat)?

I would really like to get this resolved because I find that when I am eating seeds I am less likely to smoke or eat chips and chocolate.

Thanks again for reading,

CK

1 oz of sunflowerseeds, roasted in oil, no salt added :

Total Carbohydrates 4.18 g
Dietary Fiber 1.93 g
Total Protein 6.06 g
Total Calories 174.35
Total Fat 16.29 g
Saturated Fatty Acids 1.707 g
Polyunsaturated Fatty Acids 10.755 g
Monounsaturated Fatty Acids 3.109 g
Cholesterol 0.000 mg
Water 0.74 g

4.18 g of carbs minus 1.93g of fiber = 2.25g of effective carbs.

That looks pretty LC to me

I had my hands on a packet in the supermarket yesterday but when I saw they were roasted in vegetable oil I put them back. Would that be okay?

Les, it's not 'great' (great would be having them raw, no oil) but there aren't that many options. I just refilled my 'seed' jar on the counter and opted for the natural, no salt, non roasted ones - they take some getting used to, but I'm stubborn

I was going to say "when Hell freezes over" but Lesley just reminded me it has ! I've been eating coconut 'butter' off the spoon for a few weeks now, that has to count!
