Question artificial sweetners

Hi, I'm new at this forum. I've been doing induction now for
three weeks and have lost 9 pounds and feel great!
I have a question about artificial sweetners. I read about
Splenda in many threads. Can some one explain what the
difference is between Splenda and other sweetners containing
aspartame? I live in Europe and we can't buy "splenda" here.
What sweetning ingredient should I be looking for on the label??
Saccharine, aspartame??
And why??
What's the difference between those ingredients?
thanks!
Katinka

Dr. Atkins feels strongly about artificial sweeteners-- he explains his views and the research behind them in his book or you can go to the website and read it there.

PS- In short, aspartame should be avoided as much as possible- other than unfavorable scientific testing results, it can cause people to stall.

The ingredient in Splenda is "sucralose." The reason sucralose is preferred over a lot of other sweeteners is its taste (it's derived from real sugar) and the lack of side effects.

Other Atkins approved sweeteners include saccharin, Ace-K, and I believe stevia.

The reason aspartame is discouraged is its side effects. It is a known toxin, first of all, and can cause cravings and stalls in many people. Personally I have found that it gives me headaches and triggers migraines.

Good luck finding Splenda... it is good tasting and will stand up to heat so it is fine to cook with.
