Default I'm new and am interested in maintaing - lost 118 pounds

Hi everyone!I very recently reached my weight loss goal of 115 pounds. Actually a little bit more at 118. I need to learn maintenance since I definitely don't want to gain this back. I've worked too hard.

I've gone from 277 to 159 in 3 1/2 years using keto. I'm 68 years old and have many stalls but during the stalls I've lost inches.

I go to the gym 4-5 times a week. Do water aerobics, swimming, slow running ad some weight training. I'm a very recent widow so it keeps me from being home alone as well.

I'm having trouble attaching pictures so need to figure this out. Any assistance would be appreciated.

Anyway, thanks for having me and I look forward to learning more here.

Welcome gailbuf and congratulations of your amazing weight loss!

There are several of us here who are maintaining and happy to help.

Also, although there aren't many new posts, check out the Pre-Maintenance and Maintenance Sub Forum as there's plenty of great info there which will help you:

Welcome Gailbuf! Congratulations on that amazing weight loss. And taking 3 1/2 years is a good time frame.
"Results that are Fast, Don't last"

There are a number of functions that do not work well on this old, creaky forum, but all the saved information is amazing..back to 2002. You will not be able to read journals, but I post in my Success Story or on the threads for the programs I follow. For example, click the button for Success or here is a link to Dr Ted Naiman's meme on the changes to Metabolism between starting and when at Weight Maintenance.

I easily maintain my weight loss (now, I didn’t on keto). by eating a semi-LC diet with high protein, high nutrient density, high fiber..all things that contribute to a Higher Satiety Per Calorie. And adding more exercise! so you are doing all the right things.

Demi is the expert on adding photos. I followed her advice to use an outside image service, and you can see examples in my success story.

PS I bookmark this Index page to the Forum to see activity. https://forum.lowcarber.org/index.php?
And if you want to Search by a topic…use the Advanced Search Box. Regular search doesn’t work.

Welcome, Gailbuf. In '99 I became a widow, and I'm glad you are getting out and maintaining whatever you can.

Losing over a hundred pounds is an incredible achievement. (Can I say that since I did it, too?) Maintenance is a whole other beast, but at least we do it in new clothes

I'm happy to announce that I'm doing another giant clothes cleaning, as I've been at my present weight for long enough that I don't need extra in case of, you know, extreme dryer shrinkage.

A great achievement!!

Imho, maintenance is harder. Along the journey we learned how to work off the pounds. Maintenance requires developing more skills.

Many Here, as noted above, have succeeded and share their knowledge. You can do this!!!

Welcome to maintenance!!

Welcome and congratulations on your weight loss! I am envious as I too started at 267 but have only made it to 177, actually now 180 as I have had a few months of inching up. My goal is just 145 so you sailed past my goal to 115. That is super! Impressive exercise routines too. That is one place I need work.

Enjoy your new self and enjoy your new clothes. When I lost most of my weight I purged all my large clothes. I decided I never wanted to wear those sizes again to I donated or threw away the larger sizes. Smaller clothes were a motivation for me.

I can't help you with the photos as I have never attempted it, but I still wanted to welcome you and congratulate you on your loss!
