Exclamation Beware Empower Foods Website right now!

I visited the empower foods website after reading about it here to find it constantly tries to force porn downloads onto your computer. This is a toolbar which will use your modem to dial up porn in other countries and end up costing you a fortune. Be very careful to click NO on any popups happening on that website right now.

I muddled my way thru to contacting them in case they are unaware (it could be an underhanded webhost), so hopefully they'll fix it.

I was on there last night, everything was ok, then I went back to it and got the pop-up, I sent them a message right away to let them know. I've noticed the site is offline today due to sercurity problems. My DH said they probably had been hacked.

I got this reply from EMPOWER tonight.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
Thankyou for pointing this problem out to us. We are absolutely shocked that
someone could breach the security of our ISP and add this to our page. We
have taken down the site as a precaution, whilst we investigate the source
of the problem.

Please accept my sincere apologies.

Warm regards

Mark Thurlow

I had planned dinner tonight, it was going to be one of their recipes, I didn't worry about not being able to get to their site today so didn't print it out. Now I have to find something else. *I tried to remember the recipe for chilli, didn't do too bad. Hint When using the empower tomato sauce remember it's not as thick as normal.

Yes they emailed me back also - I knew it wouldn't be empower themselves, but it's a pretty rough thing for a webhost to do. I should ask them who they are with (I have websites and don't want to ever have that happen to me!). Hopefully their website won't take too long to move.

Hope none of you got the toolbar installed. If you did, install a program called 'adaware' (a google.com search will find it), it's free and gets rid of all those nasty things that cause popups etc
