50 trips up and down
27:43 and 158 BPM A new time record by about 30 seconds.
Yay for aspirin! It's tough on the knees going back down.

Later on I did 100 step shoulder carries - each shoulder - with a 40lb sack of floor-dry Gotta get creative when you are at work.

Heh. I'm coming up on the 17 year anniversary of joining this forum. Dec 21, 2003. Been here on and off for quite a while in internet years.

Those were the days! Low carb was starting to take off, and everyone on "the other side" was full of ridicule and self-righteousness that low fat was the only scientifically sound way to lose weight. Flame wars and shaming...

The topics may change, but the behavior never does! Exercise later.

Edit:
50 sets of stairs (2 flights) up and down
26:18 New PR!!! Beat the previous best time by almost 1-1/2 minutes. Heart rate 167 Avg - Right up there. I saw over 180 a couple of times.

The halfway split was 12:43, so I didn't slow down too badly on the back end. The secret was coming *down* faster. Not a lot of time to catch up on breathing, but the sets obviously went much faster.

I don't expect to improve on that time by much, or very soon. Instead I might try doing it twice per 12 hour shift instead, and not worrying about the quickness of it.

Edit 2: 200 steps with 40lb sack of floor dry, left shoulder then right. Followed by behind the neck 200 steps. Then a 1/3 mile walk. good stuff.

Back on night shift. Came in early for annual lung capacity /respirator testing and audiogram. Not fun, since you have to do the lung thing 3 times. The guy also broke my respirator while installing his test fitting too, LOL.

Shooting for 2 workouts tonight. First one went OK

50 trips up/down the two flights
28:35 and 160 BPM - I was trying to stay under 30 min, so that's good. We will see if I'm up for a second round at 3-4 AM.

Second time, six hours later: 50 trips
27:20 and 161 BPM

As an aside, I will be taking up bicycling again in the springtime. I hung up the bike about 25 years ago, and although I'm not as skinny as I was then , I hope I'm fit enough and light enough to go up some gentle climbs.

Another 50 trips early in the shift. Not fast, and not feeling that great. I've been eliminating carbs, and it's really noticeable.

29:10 and 161 BPM

I've been putting in a great deal of physical effort, but stalled out on weight loss due to indulging myself with poor diet. I'm trying to clean that up and get below this plateau. Low cal, low carb, and high exertion. It works, but it's not fun.

There's an item on my bucket list that I plan on doing on checking off next spring: Climb nearby Scotchman's Peak. It's a moderate/difficult hike of about 4000 vertical feet with a stunning view at the top. The best part? Mountain Goats!

I don't plan on packing an extra 20 lbs of bodyfat along, so I really want the weight down by the time the snow melts off the mountain next spring.

Second time this shift
29:24 and 160 BPM

Back to it after a brief hiatus. Wasn't feeling it my last night shift, nor my first day shift back. Wife's B-day was a couple of days ago and I didn't clean up the old diet *at all*. Cake, ice cream, cookies, and I made one of her favorites: Chicken Dumplings - Slow cooker size. Not low carb, to put it mildly.

Anyway, stairs
50 sets up & down you know the drill. Lots of cardio.
27:00 even, 161 BPM avg.

Happy Thanksgiving.
I'm taking a break today. Didn't sleep very well, and had a lot of chores at work all morning. About to get a few days off. Back soon!
