September 30-Day Walking Challenge
Following on from August's 31-Day Walking Challenge, this is the challenge for September.
Quote:
Walking for Weight Loss, Physical Fitness and Mental Health
Walking can be a great way to lose weight if you have physical limitations that prevent you from doing other exercises.
You can still get in a great workout and burn extra calories throughout the week just by walking.
Although this might not be as many calories as running or jogging, these calories can add up by the end of the week and turn into pounds lost.
Just getting up and moving your body by taking a walk is a great place to start.
Have A Goal.
Setting a specific goal will also make sure that you stay accountable and get enough walking in to make a difference and help you lose weight.
Math Behind a Walking Challenge
An average person in the United States takes 3,000 to 4,000 steps a day (about 1.5 – 2 miles), and most walking challenges motivate participants to take at least 10,000 steps in a day. For context, most people burn an average of 30-40 calories per 1,000 steps, so 10,000 steps would equate to burning approximately 300-400 calories for the average person.

Set a monthly goal and post your steps daily.
You can use a Fitbit, for example, or a pedometer app on your mobile phone to track your daily steps or the distance of your workouts.
