Talking Yummy in my tummy brownies

I got this recipe from Food Network. I adore it. The problem is, is that it taste just like the real thing. I did modify it a little by eliminating the wheat bran….it is your choice. I also used a mini cupcake pan. This recipe will make 36 mini cupcakes and you will bake it for ONLY 15 minutes. I hope you enjoy this as much as I did!!!!
Also if you put the brownies in the freezer, they taste just like chewy brownies from our “old” way of life.

Thanks Firedancer, that's a great one. I've been meaning to try it, but some folks have said that the Bob's Red Mill soy flour (the yellow colored one) tastes yuk.
Can I ask what brand of soy flour you used?

Thanks much,
Datahamstr

I did try this recipe, i cut it in half though..But i really did not like it...i hated the soyflour taste. I tasted the dough before i put the SF in, so i know that that is what gave it that taste...maybe next time i'll try almond flour?

Samantha,

Thanks for your input, it confirms what I've heard. I wonder what kind of soy flour George Stella was using in creating it??/

Another idea besides using almond flour would be to use soy milk powder. This uses a partially roasted bean (roasting is good, here), and the flavor is very mild. Can be found in health food stores.

If your in the US, theres a online place that I think is called Hodgson Mills that sells very mild tasting soy flour that is almost white in color. Let me know if you interested and I'll dig up the web site.

Happy cooking,
Datahamstr

Thanks Firedancer, now I'm more confidant that it can work! I still may try the soy milk powder, as I'm in Canada and it's easier to find.

Thanks much,

I've got George's cookbook with this recipe in it...and made it. I don't really care for it...tastes too 'soy' and the texture is dense and dry in an unpleasant way. The cream cheese frosting is yummy, though!!!
