DAY 1......2/28/16:

Good morning! Up a bit today, but I had a big mug of super salty bone broth before bed and everything else was spot on yesterday so I'll blame that. After my 1st carb night I'm going to follow Keifer's recommendation and only weigh once a week on the morning of my carb night. I want to focus on the nsv's more than anything so I'll measure and take pics the morning of cn.

Speaking of cn....I've decided to have it on Saturday as originally planned. I talk to Craig and told him my concerns about being self conscious and he reassured me it would be ok. I think it's better for our relationship to be able to talk about these things and share the experience. I think I'll have cheerios with banana slices and sugar sprinkled on top around 3 then we'll go out for pizza or calzones for dinner. We always watch a movie at my house Saturday nights so we'll have popcorn and donuts. I also will make some chocolate chip cookies to munch on. I think that should do it! Hoping my eyes aren't bigger than my stomach.

Cricket - Craig doesn't need to lose any weight. He tall and lanky and eats anything he wants. He drinks regular coke all day, has ding dongs for breakfast and a candy bar and bowl of cereal before bed every night. What saves him is he doesn't overeat and works a very active job.

I know you are on the road now. I hope your having fun. Road trips are a blast!

Lianne, how do you like that soda stream? I love orange soda with hwc. Yum! I thought of getting a soda stream but wasn't sure it would be worth the investment and the counter space.

Paulette - Happy CN. I hope it is enjoyable.

Dusti, I want your CN! It all sounds delicious and something like mine CN would look like.

I love the Soda Stream. Bought it for my husband for Christmas last year. I have 2 teenagers (14 and 17), so this thing is getting used daily. I would definitely recommend it.

Hmmm. I'll have to give this some thought. It's just me at home and I don't drink a lot of soda, but I do like seltzer water.

DAY 1.....2/26/16: 211.4

I only went up 1.4 lbs after this Carb Nite. I can't wait to see what this week reveals!

So far I am very pleased with the results I am seeing. The surgery set me back, but I know I will normalize very soon. I do not feel as swollen, so I hope by next week I will start feeling quite normal again.

Once again I am feeling a burst of energy! Amazing how the carb re-feed does this to me. I was up before the birds, making coffee and cleaning the kitchen! My blood glucose reading this morning was excellent. And I was able to control it easily last night. Not sure if that protein powder helped, but it did not hurt!

I had planned on having pancakes for dinner last night, but I never made them. I was not hungry after my lunch, so I just made my popcorn and was only able to eat about half of what I had planned. I did eat my lemon bars, but they were not as good as I hoped, so I will not be making them again. Next week I will have to think of a different sweet thing. I still have 1/2 of my Angel Food cake mix left, so I should find a recipe that uses it for the next CN.

Speaking of the next CN, it happens to fall on the day we will be out of town for my surgery follow-up, so I am thinking of stopping at the Mexican Restaurant and actually eating the chips & salsa, and a normal Mexican-style dinner! We stop at that restaurant often when we go to town, but I stick with the low carb choices - and no chips, rice or beans. This time I can actually EAT that stuff! So the plan is already in the works.

Back to normal eating today! I will be making chicken soup for lunch, and a venison patty for dinner.

Good morning. It sounds like everyone is doing well and finding their groove.

Copying from my journal:

Last night I met a girlfriend for supper. We both had stuffed mushroom caps and chicken wings. I had lemon pepper and she had Greek. It was delicious and totally on plan.

Today I've had 2 scrambled eggs fried in bacon grease and topped with butter, S&P and SF ketchup.

Think I may get a chicken Caesar salad for lunch.

Happy Friday!

LIANNE - Oooo - Caesar Salad! You have changed my mind. I am going to make a Chicken Caesar Salad for dinner tonight rather than a venison patty. Although I have no Caesar dressing, I am sure I can find a recipe and whip some up for the occasion. I just bought a bag of baby spinach, so I will use that rather than romaine.

CHELLE - I'm happy to hear you are feeling better! I hope you're able to keep something down today. Keep it light. Beef or venison may backfire on you. Good luck!

Another nice little whoosh and CN is tomorrow. I stopped by the Dollar Tree yesterday and found they have smaller boxes of name brand cereal. I was worried about having leftover cereal in the house, but these boxes are good for 1-2 large bowls of cereal. They didn't have cheerios, but I got Captain Crunch. I also got some marshmallows. Lots of carbs and no fat. They might be a good carb to have early in the evening.

Maybe I'm imagining it, but my stomach feels firmer and flatter already. My exhaustion has passed and I'm in the feeling good stage! Yeah!

Lianne - Sounds like you have your f&p days down. Is your friend a low carber too?

Chelle - So glad you are feeling better.

Paulette -

Good morning and happy Saturday!

My friend is a low carber, although fairly new. She's also keep her carbs much higher - around 40 and is keeping her fat low, etc. I didn't even get into it. She's losing weight and feeling better and that's what matters. We are all different.

Today is CN day and also WI day. I am happy to say that I lost 2 pounds this week. I just love this plan!! A carb nite on Saturday, out for wings on Monday, out for wings and stuffed caps on Tuesday and down 2 pounds today.

Yesterday was a very unexpected day. Long story short we bought a 2012 Ram 1500 Laramie Longhorn. It's a beautiful truck with a sunroof and all the bells and whistles. We had a 2004 Ford F150 but it was only 2 doors and we have 2 teenagers. I hope we won't regret such an impulsive, expensive purchase.

A nearby town is having a Winter Festival this weekend with lots of fun activities planned. I think we will be heading out there for the afternoon and also to stop by for a visit with my parents, who live nearby.

I have no idea what I will be doing for CN tonight. I think today will be a "take it as it comes" kind of day.

I am down by a big 2.6 lbs whoosh this morning. I am surprised it is so soon. I surely expect at least 1 more this week. It better!

My super energy is gone. I am tired and sleepy this morning with not much oomph in me.

Ended up going to bed quite early yesterday and never did make the chicken caesar salad. I had 1/2 cup cottage cheese instead. So my cals were in a very low state yesterday. Today they will be normal as I fully plan to have that salad. Perhaps for lunch, then have the leftover soup for dinner.

HW - today is your Carb Nite! Enjoy it and I hope you can make it last the whole night! I seem to poop out about 1/2 way through it! The last snack is more of a forced thing for me! I can kind of remember the taste of Captain Crunch - and how it would tear up the roof of my mouth with its awesome crunchiness!

CHELLE - I hope you feel much better today and ready for a good LC day! Are you going to prolong the LC days before your next NC? It seems the crackers and stuff may have messed with the "rhythms". It may be a wise decision.

Time to make the new batch of yogurt. And get to work. You all have a nice day

Happy Carb Night! Wow, looks like three of us are on CN tonight. I started at 3 and now, at 330 am DONE. Lol. I wish I were done. I still have to go eat a calzone with Craig then we're having popcorn and cookies for a snack while we watch a movie. So far I have eaten Captain Crunch - you are so right, Paulette, my mouth is torn up, but it was delicious. I also ate some marshmallows and a few of the chocolate cookies I baked for tonight. I wanted ooey gooey and they came out crunchy.

I got to spend the morning with my son. His "home away from home" is about 45 minutes from me. We went to brunch (cheese omelet for me) then got haircuts and did some shopping. I bought him a new outfit.

I need to go by my parent's house tonight. One of their little dogs isn't doing well and they want me to see if it's time to put him to sleep. He's 14 years old, but it's still very sad.

Paulette - Nice whoosh! I am really getting excited about this plan. It looks very promising.

Cricket - How was the trip? You had a nice little drop too. Fantastic!

Chelle - Glad you feel better! That's the thing about being sick, your body wants to eat with a vengeance when you feel better to make up for it.

Lianne - 2 pounds this week! Another great drop. Congrats!! Your new truck sounds awesome. I hope you enjoy it!

Well, I'm off to chug a bunch of water and get ready for round two which comes in about 2 hours. Enjoy the rest of your day everyone!
