Default low carb = pain?

mid morning, cramping again. Shoulders hurt, feet hurt. I am thinking something about this WOE is causing me pain. When I am on I drop weight rapidly, but I think there is a connection between the depletion of fluids and the pain I am going through.

I previously thought it was due to me working out too much, too hard etc, but as I look back over the last few years there is a connection between me eating low carb and having this pain.

Can anyone help me with this? Is it supplementation? More salt?

I can't explain it, but I know I am right.

I've had the same problem in the past, until recently, when I was put on thyroid medication and started drinking more water and taking a lot of magnesium. I do think it's an electrolyte imbalance and it only happens when I low carb. But I only lose weight when I low carb, so I'm willing to bulk up on supplements!

Are you on statins? That could be a cause, if not, would definitely read the salt thread and consider increasing salt and other electrolytes. Rapid weight loss is water and other important minerals leaving...many good tips on other supplements here.

Thanks everyone, more salt, and I am not sleeping on my shoulders anymore.

Glad to hear you are feeling better. I read some say you only need to focus on getting enough salt in the first month when you are shedding the excess water. Not me, a VLC diet is naturally diuretic. Almost every blood test I have had for five years shows a point or two below "normal" for sodium and chloride. I feel fine, no pain, but very occasionally will become light-headed. Immediately have salted broth or lick salt off my hand and it goes away. Have also read if you keep carbs under 50g no matter have long on LC, you have to keep up the salt. I have to be aware that I salt my foods enough and maybe you will too depending on how LC you continue to eat.
