Is anyone having any sucess with paleo while using these cookery books? The recipes that get posted on Facebook seem to be a lot of paleo versions of cakes and desserts

Thanks for the tip. I just resurrected my Kindle after it was collecting dust for the last... year.

The recipes aren't too impressive, but for free? Maybe it just seems unimpressive because I feel like I've already tried just about every combination of vegetable + meat or egg that there is. Definitely worth the free download to peruse.

Warren,
I agree that many of these paleo eBooks focus way too much on sweet treats, and use too much maple syrup, honey, etc that low carbers do not or cannot use. I've keep a few of them that focus more on meals, not desserts, but seem to go back to paleo recipe websites the most. There are some good ones, and I find new ones everyday. Btw, George has a paleo banana bread with no sweetners, but 4bananas which add carbs and sweetness. I came up with 17g carbs for 1/10 loaf. Good crockpot and other main courses too on his site.

Some sites focus on Whole30 recipes, no dairy.

I only go for free cookbooks & recipes these days, mainly to look at herb & spice combos that I may not have thought of before. I never follow recipes exactly since I modify them according to what I have on hand and to keep the fat, carb & protein amounts at the levels I do best on.

The only cookbook I look at regularly is The Joy of Cooking from ~1937 for how to select & cook meat, fish and other real foods. Anything newer than that is full of margarine, vegetable oil or low fat.
