Default breadless sandwiches

The "tuna melt" thread made me realize that we don't have a thread for our favourite sandwiches from our high-carb days, made without bread. One of my favourite restaurants is the club-house of a local golf club where the staff are quite willing to let me "deconstruct" the menu.

I love sauerkraut and I love cheese and DH can't (or won't) eat either, so when I have the chance I indulge myself. The clubhouse staff will do me a "Reuben Sandwich" without the bread and they'll do it heavy on the sauerkraut on request! They top it with mozzarella and pop it under the broiler to melt the cheese before they serve it in a small oval baking dish. Delish, and as a bonus, the filling they feed me is enough for about 4 sandwiches!!!!

I like to make the filling of a BLT sandwich into a salad.

I also make a patty melt, which of course, is just a burger topped with melted swiss, fried onions and homemade (sf) Thousand Island dressing.

I like turkey and cream cheese! Or ham and cheddar.

I don't miss the bread at all.

Sometimes for convenience I will make flax bread to have a "real" sandwich.
