Default Hot Chocolate!

So it's another start to a cold and long Minnesota winter. Yay
My husband and I usually have friends and family over on the weekends for a bonfire, some drinks and stories. (And yes in the snow!) Sounds crazy, but when you grow up here your blood thickens!

Anyways we usually have coffee and kaluha or baileys and hot chocolate. I am on the 3rd day of inductions, so I wasn't able to join in. I remembered seeing this recipe in the Atkins Diet Revolution book, and I thought I might give it a try. OMG! This hit the spot exactly! This is not something I can have everyday, but man did it kick the chocolate and the sweet craving!!! I didn't even miss the liquor! I couldn't find this recipe posted anywhere, so I apologize if this is a repeat. Just thought anyone on a cool or cold winters night could definitely use this!

Hot Chocolate!

1 tblsp Heavy Whipping Cream
1/2 tblsp of Unsweetened Cocoa Powder
2 packets of Splenda
Water - See below
tblsp of Whipped Cream (optional)

Add Heavy Whipping Cream in microwave safe mug. Add water until desired amount fills mug. Heat in microwave about 1 min.

Add cocoa, splenda and whipped cream. Enjoy!

(With my adding total net carbs are about 3-5. It's 5 carbs with the addition of whipped cream.)

Default Hot Chocolate

Hey they also have low carb hot chocolate made by Swiss Miss. It only has 3 carbs per packet. I found it at the Cloquet, MN walmart, but I am sure other super walmarts carry it.

I am going to try this in the morning! I'm always looking for something warm to drink besides coffee!

Thanks!

This is sooo good. Thank you so much for posting your recipe. I used to get the no sugar added cocoa, but that isn't very low carb (I think it's like 9 carbs a cup) Your recipe is perfect. I make it at work in the morning. I'm not a coffee drinker, so the hot cocoa helps get me going.

I have been CRAVING hot chocolate. Our first (yes FIRST) snowfall was a record 10"+. Today was a cold rain/snow and I wanted to go to the chocolate cafe and have hot chocolate. But no, not a good idea. I was looking for a non-mix recipe and this sounds perfect!

I will try it tomorrow morning... or maybe before I go to bed

Talking Hot Chocolate Wowza!!!

okay....here is my hot chocolate for two recipe. it makes two mugs full.

PREheat about 1 1/2 cups of water in an extra large mug or a bowl in microwave for 1 min 30 seconds.

while water is heating, prepare your mixture in each mug:

3 pkgs splenda
dash of salt
2 Tblspns Cocoa

add 1/4 cup of the hot water to each mug, and stir briskly with a fork til mixed well.

then add [to each mug]:

another 1/2 cup hot water
and 1/2 cup half-n-half

stir up, then:

microwave each mug for 1 minute 30 seconds. careful not to boil it over.

this may sound "involved" but it is quick and easy, and really nice on a cold night!
