Default how many carbs

So in maintenance or pre-maintenance, how many carbs are y'all consuming in a day?

I've been at this weight (150) for about 8 years and I find I eat around 100-150 carbs a day. And it's whatever carbs I want, certainly not all healthy or unprocessed either. I make good choices mostly, but I also eat grains and even some sugar. And yet maintaining is easier for me now than when I first started, keeping under 60-80 a day.

I'm a 50 year old female, exercise regularly, but still this seems like a lot of carbs. But now I feel lousy when I eat fewer (I started LCing 1/1/00 and finished in the spring of 02).

What amount do you eat (assuming you keep track)?

Maintenance is just around that measure. I'm not on any sort of maintenance yet, but that's what I'm currently shooting for right now. Some people handle well at 60-80 g/per day and ketosis. Others feel dead. It's all how your body handles it.

A great piece I was referred to about carbs per day.

That was an interesting article! Thanks!

I'm just hoping to avoid the "slow insidious weight gain" or where I wake up one day, am ten pounds heavier and I can't get them off no matter what I do. On the other hand, who thought maintenance would get easier as I got older?

Not for me -- if over 50 I gain unless its just a one day stand.

I don't keep track, but prompted by your question, I tracked a couple of days food intake on Fitday, and my daily carb intake averaged around 80-100g.

I don't keep formal track either as following South Beach, we don't count carbs. But I do know that I'm at around 80-100 like Demi...and am way over 50 yrs old and have been easily maintaining my loss for over 4 yrs now.

However, I do keep very close track of the fruits and starches I eat daily as that is the way I learned to do it following SB. I can eat 2-3 fruit servings daily and 1-2 starches daily and not see gain. This is in addition to all the protein, veggies, dairy that I eat each day.
