Default Books about evolutionary-based eating plans

I thought it might be useful to get some low down on the the other books out there that promote eating plans based on our evolutionary past.

Here's a quick list I got from Amazon.co.uk.

Maybe anyone who'se read them could give us a review or add more suggested reading to the list (books rather than articles)?

I suggest just reviews and criticism and save the 'my books better than yoou book' for USENET.

The Paleo Diet: Lose Weight and Get Healthy by Eating the Food You Were Designed to Eat L. Cordain

Neanderthin Ray Audette

The Stone Age Diet (Eat Fat, Grow Thin) - Dr Richard Mackarness (1958)

Eat Fat Get Thin Barry Groves

The Origin Diet: How Eating Like Our Stone Age Ancestors Will Maximize Your Health Elizabeth Somer

Dr Citron's Evolutionary Diet: Help Prevent Cancer and Heart Disease--and Lose Weight Naturally--by Followin the Diet of Your Cro-Magnon Ancestors! Ronald S. Citron, Kathye J. Citron

(the only one I know of that promotes grain eating)

Charles Hunt's Diet Evolution: "Eat Fat and Get Fit!" Charles J., III Hunt

The Quest for Food: Its Role in Human Evolution and Migration Ivan Crowe

Human Diet: Its Origin and Evolution Peter S. Ungar, Mark Teaford

Eat Right 4 Your Type Peter D'Adamo, Catherine Whitney

Diabetes Broadhurst, C. Leigh
Prevention & Cure--Discover The Evolutionary Diet Plan--Live A Healthier Life

Well, if you really want to be useful, Ian, why not include links to amazon.com since the majority of us are in the US. That's was a very nationist post.

Anyway here's one that isn't strictly on eating, but addresses the evolutionary aspects very well.

Lights Out: Sleep, Sugar & Survival by T.S.Wiley and Bent Formby

Thank you for those links Ian. I'm off to hopefully find the Peter Ungar/Mark Teaford book here on Amazon U.S.

I have skimmed the book from Elizabeth Somer's and it included legumes and grains (I remember seeing a recipe for bean burritos) so it's hardly paleo IMHO.

Oops. Didn't realize that--I link directly to the forum and never noticed the main URL. <Egg on face> I wondered why there were so many Canadians here. Which gets back to my point: UK links for Canadians?

My favorite site is the Barry Groves' site: Second Opinions. Can't afford to order the books though if they are hardcover and sending away for them is very cost prohibitive. That's on my someday, when and/or if my son leaves home and I can get my finances back in order plan. Websites are a god-send though.

I don't consider "Eat Right 4 Your Type" a paleo book at all. It is quite ridiculous actually (IMHO).

Here is an extremely excellent book... IMHO, of course : Life Without Bread

PaleoDeano. Yup I agree. I think there is no good science in it. The blood-type theories are invalid and not backed up. However, the author calims it to be based on evolutionary science, so I included it.

Wait until you see my review on the 'Adam and Eve Diet'!

I read the Barry Groves one called "Eat Fat get Thin" and loved it! it's basically the same as Neanderthin though. I'm looking forward to ordering "Life without Bread" soon. I've heard really good things about it. Who has read it?
