Default do canned goods expire?

What do you all know about the dates on the bottom of canned goods. Do things like soup and chicken broth go bad?? I recently cleaned out the ole cubbards and found some things had dates that have passed.

Personally, I would get rid of them. I'm sure the date means something, although, it could be the date it was canned????

Depends on just HOW "passed" the date is. If it's the day after the date --IF it's a Best Before Date -- well, NO, I wouldn't toss it out, that would be ridiculous. Even Best Before Dates are only 'taste & flavor' recommendations, not hard and fast expiry dates.

IF it's a manufacturing date, and the can is in good shape, it's probably good for at least a year seriously.

To put your mind at ease, I've googled a useful link for you on Food Expiration Dates:

Enjoy.
