Blame my stint in Whitehorse and/or Winnipeg, but I do have boots (just picked up a pair of those Ugg-like things for 19.99 usd in WA , think I have ESP?) and even a fake fur coat which is really quite warm! and cool looking, too, I might add

I kind of like mucking about in the snow! Even driving, but those other guys, well! Yes, I do try to steer clear of other drivers, they're NUTS out there, can't seem to drive much on dry pavement never mind ice or snow or both...

Had to pour hot water on the door locks and do some serious sweeping and scraping, but we have the 4WDs out and running, no problem. Had some pouwer outages on Sunday, all day, but (X the fingers) so far so good since then, though (other) parts of Langford were still dark yesterday.

Off for a shift today, I guess those officer dudes are locked in so will be showing up for lunch today...

Keep warm, my friends.

Default Update on the LC bread

I finally made up a batch of Jena Marie's low-carb bread flour using the baking stuff I got from Jude on Friday. (No Jude, not the sourdough yet.) Anyhoo, I made a loaf of white bread today following her recipe, except I added 1 egg (I like an egg in my bread) and reducing the liquid by 1/4 cup to make up for the egg.

It made a lovely loaf, nice shape, good texture, and nice flavour at 5 net carb grams per slice, based on 20 slices to the loaf (I'll get 16) - I will definitely be making it again! By the way, the carb calculation is Jena Marie's - I haven't double checked it.

Anyhow, thanks Jude for the tips, the link, and the ingredients!!

hugs all, Glenda

How cool is that?! Nothing pleases me more than happy cookers (or bakers)

I'll get around to it, sometime, soon-ish, but I'm going to hang in til the whole sourdough thing gets started...now that's going to be some fun. Good going, Glenda! (sorry for the alliteration ).

Snow's melting steadily (yes, I know it's happening down there in town, too) but the driveway is still messy, with that great hump of frozen plowed stuff at the end, so I'm still 4-wheeling just to get over that hump ... kind of fun.

I sure hope you'all are setting up for a fabulous family and friends holiday season. I'll be thinking of you, off an on , during the season, and looking forward to catching up in the new year (ouch, there's that whole year gone again thing).

Hugs, y'all!!!

Nice to see another Islander.... Where are you?

There's a group of us that gets together about once a month in Victoria if you're close and interested.

All the best, Julie

Hello fellow Canadians, I wish I could join you for lunch but unfortunately am stuck in Georgia. What a neat thing you are doing by organizing this! Have a great time!
