That's the amazing part about my highly restricted -- though wonderfully therapeutic -- current eating plan. My Carb Manager app lets me scan the barcode in the grocery store. As a result, I've become keenly aware how much processing goes into any food that is not in its raw state.

I used to get commercial dairy based dips to eat with various vegetables. This is sour cream, vegetables, and seasoning, but when I scan it now, the carb count is ridiculously high. Makes no sense, but when I read the much-longer-than-it-used-to-be label, I see they have stuffed it with all kinds of starch and sugar with long names.

Soup! There's no reason for them all to have similar carb counts when one has pasta and one has vegetables. But they must thicken the broth with flour to a ridiculous point.

So, I'm forced to cook

We cook too. It's the price you pay to be healthy, and it's worth the price. If you don't have your health, you don't have anything.
