yes, prescribed allopurinol.

her last flare up only lasted a couple days, then bam - it stopped - which is amazing as they can go for more than a week sometimes, so i'm hesitant to call it an improvement, as no flare ups is what i want, but there it is.

That is very interesting Brandy. I have often wondered why some get gout and others do not. Perhaps underlying "issues" allow the crystals to develop. Like low Mg and K-- seems these are two that we dont get enough of. Ca is pushed but Mg and K forgotten.

I was desperate and dealt with it for a few years. But I read that for people who are prone to get kidney stones (which I don’t. I get stones in my salivary glands) that they need the magnesium especially to break up the calcium crystals. When I passed my salivary stone (into my mouth!!!) 7 years ago, I realized it looked like a bone! So through the years, I reflected on that and decided that maybe I need to break up the stones in my feet. It started working within a week. Also, drinking more water seemed to be an important component to my recovery.

From personal experience, monitor your body electrolytes fluid balance.

Must:
Equate Clear Fiber Powder(1 tb daily)
Equate Daily Fiber sugar free(2 tb daily)
Baking soda(half to 1 tb daily)
One big cup of water(500ml to 800ml)
Multi-Vitamin

Optional:
Tea(diuretic plus Vit D/Calcium) or Coffee
Ibuprofen(200mg/tab per two when feel tingling, not work for everyone)

Magnesium
Potassium Gluconate
Morton Lite Salt

Keep warm and hydrate and bring bathroom with you

Have been gout free for like 15+ years. Tried tons of solutions. Above is the best. 400mg(200mg time 2) Ibuprofen works for me and many other people when we/you feel something. It does not work when gout attack appears. See doctor ASAP to get relief. Prescriptions prescribed by doctors are terrible.

Smart thinking.
I can see how that worked. Bone is collogen with many minerals imbedded. So good thinking. As for water, maybe it is like salts coming out of solution, when water is not enough to keep the mjnerals in solution.
