Question I ate a sandwich for dinner!! Is that wrong?

Hi guys,

Yesterday for breakfast I ate 2 scrambled eggs with cheese. For lunch I ate a chicken salad. For dinner I ate... a ham and cheese sandwich. Each slice of bread was 12 carbs.

My question is: Is eating the bread bad even though all day I ate a total of about 30 carbs? My carb count was fairly low considering the the bread.

Why can't I eat bread if I keep my carb count low?

There is a discussion that started 5 minutes before your post on the Quality of Carbs. I think you'll find it most informative because all carbs are not created equal.

Kat, it's neither *bad* nor *good* to eat bread. Morality isn't the issue here. The point is, what plan are you following, and how committed are you to following that plan? Only you can answer those questions.

You CAN eat bread if you like. You can also cross the street against the light and stay up all night watching TV!

I'm not trying to be sarcastic here. The point I'm trying to make is that YOU are in control of what, when, and how you eat. If you want to follow a low-carb plan, then you need to follow it *properly* in order to see results. If you don't follow the rules, that doesn't mean you're 'bad', it just means that you won't lose weight (or obtain the other health benefits of low carbing).

Atkins doesn't allow bread, at least at Induction levels. Protein Power allows the occasional slice. CAD allows bread at 'reward' meals. So if you want to eat bread AND lose weight, pick a plan that allows it, and follow ALL the guidelines!

Actually I don't even know what plan I'm following anymore. I started out with Atkins, then started cheating everynow and then. That's when I sort of took upon myself to just stay low carb with whatever I eat. I guess I didn't really think about the vitamins and nutrients. I lost 22 pounds, but I have to admit I was losing a lot faster when I was strictly going by the book.

Thanks guys, I'll try and do...no...I'll Do better!!
