Default Widely varying BS in under a minute

Because I was curious, sometimes I've taken multiple BS readings back to back to see how precise the meter is. The result? Huge swings! Before dinner it was 56, 81, and 90 all within a minute. Is this normal, or is the meter broken?

It's a ReliOn Ultima.

Hi there,

You might want to use the test solution to see if the meter is in range. This has happened to me with perfectly fine readings. Maybe I washed my hands and there was some residual water in the sample, grease from food.. you get the picture.

I will get different readings from using different fingers.

ETA...Of course, not as widely variable as what you're saying you get. Perhaps a new meter is in order.

The readings shouldn't be bigger than 10% difference. You should call the Relion people and ask them about it.

I'd say it is useless and not dependable if you're getting such variances in your readings....

It is not normal!

Normally, if you get a 100 reading on one test, you might get 95-105 on the next and that would be normal, but if it is varying much more than that, and then in opposite directions, you have nothing on which to depend on, so definitely it needs fixing or get a new meter...
