Notes:

Done with DDF baseline looks like this. continue study and following guidelines. Super fun! My personal trigger for BG (prior to eating) is 96 mg/dL for now. What that means is that I wait until my BG falls below that then I eat. If I'm hungry, I first try to guess my BG, then take it. The next phase I think they call it Hunger Training - I call it Hunger Games ha!

Goals for January 2 through March 31

1) Stop eating whey protein
2) Avoid all snacking between meals & after dinner
3) Get most of my fat from food (limit the added fats)
4) Basically return to the < 30 net carb, high fiber diet I was doing in 2016.

Met all goals: 11 days
Off Target: 1 day

Another on track day. Not snacking does result in me eating less, but I think that I'm still eating too much for dinner. I don't want to get back into weighing & measuring everything everyday. That was part of my burnout issue. But some spot checks on days when I'm eating my typical meals would be a good gauge. To lose weight I need to find a new normal with less daily food. Ultimately, that's what I'm working to do here for the first 90 days of 2021.

Last night I forgot to eat dinner At 6 PM Hubs asked if I wanted leftovers for dinner, and I said yes, but I would make them for myself later, when I was hungry. Then I promptly forgot to eat because I forgot about food entirely. I didn't realize I hadn't eaten since 1 PM until we went to bed. So that was unexpected and awesome

Great job sticking with it, folks

Over on protein 206g. I'm not so sure I should be simply putting a hard, arbitrary limit on protein. I'll leave it where it is for this period as I'm pretty sure I'd be getting sufficient amount at this level. Let's see where DDF guides me as far as appetite.

That's so cool Froka - amazing that food was not brought up to the conscious level. I'm really digging DDF Hunger Games so far. It's really just like training a dog:

Q: Did I do it right, pant, pant? (can I guess my BG from "feel")

A: check the blood meter - its actual reenforcement for the "hunger" signal, what ever that is. It's not as mysterious to me now and I have hope that I can reconnect my mind and body with eating when it needs food. Moving on...

Now I must get through the weekend OP. Snacking is much easier when hanging around the house all day. Maybe I should get out and do something.

Rolled over and kept sleeping, but not as much as was usual for me. I still managed to have breakfast and get to work on time. A shooting for the moon and landing among the stars type of thing today

Dec 30 - March 30 * Protein prioritization and strength training

Yesterday: 1/2
Successful protein goal days: 17/17
Successful workout days: 16/17

Taking a mulligan on my workout yesterday. I was feeling whooped and a little unwell. I love Fridays as much as the next Mon-Fri worker, but the stress and tiredness catches up to me. I feel better already this morning; ready to kill it.

Jess, I love it when that happens. That's what so many people don't 'get' about LC/ketogenic eating. "But you're starving yourself," "you shouldn't go more than (n) hours without eating!" Mmmhmm, whatever.

Thud, I agree with you, I wouldn't limit protein, either - especially considering that you're pretty active. If you're hungry enough to eat that much, there's probably good reason for it.

Ken, good luck on the weekend snacking front. I'd say 'get out and do something' or 'take up an activity that occupies your hands and/or brain' but I've been staring at my unfinished knitting projects for over a year now.

Manda, do you feel like your body is getting used to earlier rising? I've always been 'cursed' with an inability to sleep in, even in my younger partying days. Seemed like no matter how late I stayed up, I'd be wide awake at my usual time.

We're kicking butt! Have a great weekend, guys and gals.

Kristine-My body is getting used to it, but my mind is lagging. This is a profoundly psychological issue for me, and I experience a lot of anxiety when facing the day ahead. That causes me to go back to sleep as a form of retreat. There is a physical component that just makes me feel more alert and productive in the afternoon. Some research suggests circadian rhythms can be hard wired.

I'm pushing the limits to find out how much of a morning person I can become. I have gotten to the point where I'm capable of being up early, but I still don't feel like starting work right away.

Glad you're feeling better! Rest can do amazing things

Kristine and Thud, it was such a good feeling. I've been taking it back to basics with just meat and fat (my carbs each day come from the heavy cream in my coffee), so I find my cravings have been obliterated entirely and my hunger to be all but gone. Plus the eczema on my hands healed in like 5 days, and the psoriasis on my scalp is nearly gone. I am on Day 19 of Carnivore and feeling pretty rad. I'll update my journal with an entry on it soon enough.

Thud, I love that you said, "Whatever that is" about hunger signals. I've found that hunger can be in my head, or it can be a growl in my stomach; in my heavy carb-eating days, it could be in the form of hyperglycemia when I would start to shake and I needed to eat RIGHT NOW or I felt like I was going to pass out. I can ignore it and it can go away, if I eat LC enough. That hunger is tricky business sometimes.
