Default Extra Virgins Olive Oil

If we don't have a thread about EVOO, it's time to get one going

Sadly, I've discovered that too much of the olive oil in the US market is a very poor product. Probably true of olive oil imported to most countries outside of the Mediterranean.

In recent searches for a better quality EVOO, finding REAL 100% EVOO is disturbing. Because either it's adulterated with the seed oils I'm trying to avoid, or it's sooooo old it's lost much of it's benefits.

When accessing what is available locally, there is only one brand that is acceptable. California Olive Hill.

Have you looked into brands or do you just pick the cheapest, like I used to?

Here is a YouTuber with suggestions. Though others say EVOO over a year is not the best.

Avocado oil is also cut with vegetable oils.

What brands do you use?

I have been aware of adulterated olive oil for many years. I use Zoe olive.

As Jean points out, adulterated olive oil, unfortunately, has been the norm for many years. Buyer beware. I use Kirkland Extra Virgin Olive Oil from Costco, as it has been positively tested and reviewed as the real deal for many years. It tastes great.

Both the olive oil I use, Zoe, and the olive oil Rob uses, Kirkland, appear on this list of best live oils:

Thanks for the input Rob. Hoping we can establish a list of real brands.

California Olive Hill is the one I'm using. Took a taste straight up. Hoping to find something better flavored.

Some good OOs on the link Jean provided. I've bookmarked it as my current source.

Jean, what a great list.

I was left wondering about the options within one label. What was listed as a good one from California Olive Hill , a first pressed variety, is not the bottle I tasted.

I do have their blend of four sources, which goes to the dog.lol

This particular company apparently has several different qualities they offer.
