Default 5 htp to replace celexa

I have wanted to stop taking celexa for years. I have read good things about 5 htp and would like to try it. Any advice on weaning off celexa and starting 5 htp?

I can't give much advice but to do it in baby steps. Years ago I stopped taking Celexa cold turkey because I wanted a sex life again and whoooo...you didn't want to be around me a few weeks. Find a good doctor who will listen with an open mind and discuss your options.

As for the 5-htp, I find 50mg in the evening works great. I have been taking it a few days (I am the poster child for depression and do NOT respond well to most antidepressants) and it seems to do well for me. I feel a bit "floaty" about 30 minutes after taking it, but the rest is pretty good.

Hope this helps.

Studies have found that it is far more effective in influencing to prevent the destruction of serotonin than increase its production and let the destruction rate remain unchanged. I upgraded from Celexa to its successor, Lexapro, more than a decade ago, and I have no problems with sex drive any more.

I'm taking tyrosine in the morning and have switched to tryptophan in the afternoon. I'm weaning off of celexa and was having bad side effects...tingling in face, blurred vision, fatigue, flu like symptoms... I had to go back up on my dosage a little but I'm a third of the way there. It has been about a month so far. The book the mood cure has info about using supplements to help wean off without side effects. Its going to take some time but its worth it and I think it may be helping shed weight. Thanks for all the advice and I would appreciate more input when possible.
