Default Pear shapes..Dr Phil says we should be taking

Soyisoflavons and green tea extract...

Also I found a menu for pear shapes if anyone wants to try this (not Dr. Phils)
But it is Atkin friendly...I am trying this tomorrow (I need to go shopping)

Let me know if anyone is Pear shaped and having trouble loosing their weight there....I will post the menu (too long if no one is interested.)

Ok, this is out of a health digest magazine that I clipped out about 4 years ago and never tried, found it yesterday and am starting it tomorrow:
Do this for 2 days:
Before Breakfast have 8 oz. water w/ 1tsp. psyllium powder ( I have metamucil capsules so I will have 4 capsules w/water)
& 8 oz. lemon water (juice of 1/2 lemon or 1 T. lemon juice concentrate)

Breakfast - 4 egg white omelet w/1/4 c. each mushrooms & onions

8 oz. water 1 T. flaxseed oil

Mid-morning

16 oz. lemon water

Lunch:

4 oz. broiled fish w/ parsley & garlic, 2 cups green leafy salad w/chives, sprouts & water chestnuts. 1 T. flaxseed oil, 8 oz. water.

Mid - Afternoon 16 oz. water

Dinner _ 4 oz. baked chicken w/ 1/4 cup each mushroooms & onions.
4 oz. steamed beans
1/2 cup raw cuckumbers
8 oz. water

Evening:
8 oz. lemon water
8 oz. water w/ tsp. psyllium powder

Day 3 - 16: before breakfast 8oz. water, 8oz. psyllium powder, Breakfast - 4 egg white omelet w/ 1/2 cup vegetables
180 milligrams GLA (gamma-linolenic acid a fat -burning supplement)
8oz. water. Mid morning 16 oz. lemon water

Lunch: 4 oz. lean protein (fish, skinless poultry, egg whites, lean beef)
1 T. flaxseed oil, 8 oz. water
Mid-afternoon : 16 oz lemon water
Dinner: 4 oz. lean protein , 2-3 cups vegetables (raw or steamed) 1 T. flaxseed oil, 180 mg.GLA, 8 oz. water

Evening: 8oz. lemon water, 8 oz. water w/ 1tsp. psyllium powder

Drink throughout the day raspberry tea....

Pink salmon is a rich source of fatty acids for lunch option...

this is supposed to flush out the toxins...

Hey I did Atkins 14-day induction to a T. So I'm going to try this...just need to get some cuckumbers and water chestnuts and sprouts,

Good Luck

Chantel, are you sure that it's 8oz of psyllium? I don't think I could drink enough water to accomodate that.

I think the psyllium amount was supposed to be 1 Tbsp, plus 8 oz of water.

I wouldn't last one day on that diet. Tasteless fat free food and gulping straight flax oil? Sounds suspiciously "fad" to me... It's perfectly normal for females to be pear shaped - it's only the apple shape that is potentially harmful, and only because of the tendancy to store fat in the abdomen. So targeting a diet at perfectly normal shaped women sounds strange...

And what if you were really tall and skinny? Would you be a banana?

That diet looks plain nasty... and to repeat the original claim, NOT Dr Phil... his diet plan is very sane and rational, and he DOES emphasize staying away from refined carbs...

In the Dr Phil book, he does have a chapter on apple vs pear, but only in regards to the physiological differences in fat storage, and has a chart of suggested supplements to help both types.

I went on that same diet for 2 weeks and couldn't wait to get off it and back to normal LC..I did lose 2 lbs after a long stall, but not sure it was worth it..I felt a lot weaker as I am sure I was not getting enough nutrition.

I'd rather do another fat fast than that garp. Dry, low fat meat is a thing of the past for me. Pass the butter!

I hear about apples and pears, but what about hour glasses?

hmmm i have a pear-shaped friend who wants to go on
atkins but she's afraid she might not lose on the bottom
part of her body...my question is, is isoflavones a supplement
that you can buy from healthfood stores or is it something that
we can only get from certain foods?

Diet is not going to control which part of your body fat is reduced, and neither does exercise..anyone believing otherwise is a target for being manipulated into parting with money for something that is fraudulent. It is all a matter of individual differences, as ever, and one has to accept what one's body does..the only way I know of to specifically spot reduce is liposuction or other more plastic surgery.

I disagree. For women at least, estrogen is largely responsible for fat deposition on the bottom half. I took steps to correct my estrogen dominance and balance my hormones at about the same time I started lc, and I feel my bottom is starting to look more proportional to my top than it has in years. I'll probably never have that boyish-slim look I've always envied, but at least I'm looking more normal to myself. And of course this won't apply to everyone, YMMV, and all that.

Hi Carol:

Thought I'd post to you here instead of on the exercise forum.

Here's a link that you may find interesting. It's all about estrogen dominance, and yes, estrogence dominance will depost fat on the hips and thighs. Estrogen dominance has become almost epidemic due to the environment that we are exposed to.

http://www.drlam.com/A3R_brief_in_d...ominance.htm#12

The diet recommended by Dr. Phil looks pretty similar to the one listed in that link. I think the biggest reason it's LF is b/c conventional meats/dairy have estrogens in them. But their biggest push is for whole, unprocessed food.

I'm also taking DIM which is supposed to be better than soy. In fact, I've heard all kinds of controversy about soy. I don't think the experts know whether it's good or bad. There seem to be arguements on both sides. I've removed it from my diet after I tested extremely high for estrogen. I don't know that it's made any difference though.

Here's a site that has been very vocal against soy.
http://www.westonaprice.org/soy/index.html

Anyway, hope this helps some!

Wanda

Sorry Grimalkin, I kind of repeated what you wrote. I didn't see your post.
