Thumbs down Oh my Gosh - - purple eyes!

This happened to me before and its happening again....I have dark circles under my eyes...very dark purplish....not puffy, do not hurt....why! I did not have these when I was not low-carbing and they were not there during my few times I was off carbs for a few weeks....

How do I alleviate the appearance and what is causing them...I hope its not low-carbing! I just had a physical and am in great shape BTW.

Sorry, just trying to lighten the moment. I dont know how or why living the LC Lifestyle would cause this but I hope you find out whats going on.

I still like purple!

I noticed the same thing this morning and last night my eyes were burning - I think it may be a case of allergies, it's the season now - I never had it before - I really don't think it has anything to do with LC lifestyle. Try putting some camomile tea bags under your eyes when you have 15 minutes to yourself.

Are you getting enough vitamin C? This is implicated in bruising - and I'm guessing these dark circles could be related to bruises?

If you are anemic or iron deficient, you will "suddenly" get dark circles.

OK...I do take a multi w/iron.
I take L-Carnitine
and yes, I suffer from seasonal allergies.
I was wondering if possibly I am anemic and NOT getting enough Iron,,,,how much is the RDA for a female/age 40?

Yvonne:

I recommend speaking with your doctor. Hopefully they mean nothing but you really should have any physical checked out.

It could also mean insufficient sleep. I have been cursed with dark circles for years. I didn't know about the vitamin C thing though, will get diligent about my multis!!!

Thanks for the tip!

Love this forum!

I read somewhere (DANDR?) that iron can cause you to have dark circles under your eyes. Try a multi-vit w/o iron.

I too have dark on the inside corners of my eyes.Even though purple is my fav color I don't want to see it on or under my eyes.I never had these before lc but since I have been on Lc, five months I have the same dark under eye prob as you.I take all my vitamins and I get more iron than i have ever in my life so I don't know what the prob is.I guess we weigh overweigh versus dark circles.I know which one wins in my book.LC forever and I guess i will live with the dark circles.
