Individual organizations in Canada have to pay to use the Cochrane Library. If Canada joins as a nation, then small organizations in Canada can get access without the financial burden.

Sorry for the slow response. I believe researchers use it to get ready access to data from other trials. If Canada joins, it will be easier for Canadian research establishments especially smaller ones to follow the work done by others in their field, to perform meta-analyses, and compare their results to those obtained by others.
