I honestly don't mean to sound vain with this question but.... am I going to lose my chest? I understand that it's mostly fat, so will it decrease as much as the rest of my body will? I am so sorry for asking this...I think I'm turning red! My chest is the only thing I AM comfortable with right now!

That's a valid concern and not vain at all But the bad news is that you just don't know, because everyone's bodies are different and we all lose it differently. But best of luck to you in keeping them

Ahem, this is a subject of great interest to me

But seriously, it's important to understand the role of fat cells in the body, and their impact on your appearance.

1. When you lose fat, you DO NOT lose fat cells. You lose fat from those cells

2. Your fat cells are not equally distributed over your body, that's what makes your figure unique. It's genetic.

3. You can not control which fat to lose from which cells. You lose proportionally to your fat cell concentration. Spot training does not work in losing fat from a spot, it can only build muscle. If you lift weight with one hand, you'll grow muscle on that hand, but you'll lose fat equally from both hands. If you lost 10% fat from each hand, you've lost 10% from everywhere else.

Default hi Steff

Speaking as a normally small-busted woman myself, I understand exactly where you're coming from. Since I've been obese is the first time in my life I've had unassisted cleavage! (god bless decolletee .. ) I've gained and lost significant amounts of weight over my lifetime, though never before as much as I'm in the process of losing now, and yes, hate to break it to you, but the breasts do get smaller too.

Will they disappear completely?? No, of course not. The breast is made up of glandular tissue which is surrounded and supported by fat and connective tissue. So even though the fat cells will shrink, the gland itself will not. Pregnancy and breastfeeding will alter the glandular tissue more than anything, and aging has the greatest influence on the connective tissue supporting the breast structure.

The only ways to increase the size of the breast is a) surgical augmentation, ie. implants; b) weight gain; and c) pregnancy. However, there is a lot of evidence supporting the use of specific weight-lifting and resistance exercises that target the pectoral and intercostal muscles of the chest and chest wall. The exercises do not increase the breast size, but help to develop and define the underlying chest shape.

Are you an A-frame pear like me?? Smaller bust / larger hip figure-type is less likely to suffer heart disease and cholesterol problems.

As you lose weight, your body will assume the shape it's meant to have in order to be healthy. Exercise will help to define your basic shape to KEEP you healthy. That's what's really important

take care, hope this is helpful
