Default Apple Cider Vinegar?

is anyone using this? as a supplement? If so, how? A friend advised consuming a Tablespoon prior to each meal, however this was prior to going back on LC. Gosh it tastes AWFUL, so if it's not helpful, I'm going to bail. Thanks for your input. :-)

It has been ascribed all sorts of benefits. One is that it is supposed to lower blood sugar. Which is a good one for us. I'd take it after eating thought.
Oddly enough, it helps my IBS-D a whole lot. No idea why.

I would take it by adding a T. to a small amount of water and drink it down asap. Then I rinse my mouth so the acid isn't hard on the teeth.

If I put it in 12-16 oz of water it isn't unpleasant to me. Kind of refreshing.

I think sourness is lessened as you age. I remember my mother could tolerate all sorts of sour I couldn't stand when I was a kid. Now I find that something like a T. of vinegar in 3 oz of water is doable, as long as I chug it.

I think the usual dose is 1 tsp but I felt 1 T. (once a day) was better for me. 3x a day would be a bit much.

You could also probably make a salad dressing with it using EVOO and lemon juice/lemon zest, plus some water to thin it a bit.

As Nancy says, there are many benefits linked to it. For carb "busting" I think you need to drink 1-3 T in a cup or more of water BEFORE you eat the carbs or immediately following. I have tried after the fact by many hours and felt the results were so-so. It can also help with weight loss stalls. You actually get used to the taste and many folks drink it as a daily tonic but only using a teaspoon or 2 in a large glass of water.

I tend to add some to my mayo, along with a little sour cream and artificial sugar, dab of mustard and come out with what tastes JUST LIKE Miracle Whip to ME! LOL That makes the 'sauce' for my 'unpotato salad' using steamed cauliflower instead of potatoes, and as the base for my tuna and chicken salad.

But drinking it on it's own?? Um...no thanks...LOL which is weird considering I like dill pickles. Hmmm.

I think the idea is that it helps increase stomach acids needed for digestion. They say if we eat small meals all day long, the stomach acid doesn't have a chance to build up between meals.

The dill pickle juice will do the same thing. It also helps with muscle cramps because of the high potassium.

My mother has used it to help with dawn phenomenon BG increases. I can't because she takes it in pills, which have maltodextrin, and I'm allergic.

My 90 year old mother swears by it. She takes it every day and uses it for heartburn when needed. I also have a friend who drank 1/4 cup every morning in warm water. She lost 45 pounds. (probably because she was too sick to eat!) LOL

I can't tolerate the taste of it at any dilution, in any recipe, or any other way, shape, or form. :-(
I don't even like thinking about it. lol
