There use to be an active group of Atkins 72 in the Challenge section, organized by Just Jo. But she hasn’t posted since March 2019.

Perhaps an alternative search term might be VLC (Very Low Carb) or even keto, though that’s a marketing buzzword away from the site.

Dr. Eric Westman was the first researcher to review Dr Atkins clinic notes and base a clinical trial on what was used in the clinic for obese patients, sure to work. It is stricter than Atkins 72, in that you basically stay on induction until at goal. No nuts at all, etc.

He wrote the New Atkins book with Phinney & Volek in 2010 and has a new book written with Amy Berger, End Your Carb Confusion, both of which do have phases. I was a patient in the clinic but now there are hundreds of YT videos about his program and "keto". Long term, I had to adjust strict low carb to allow more fiber, dairy and lower fat, but I had lost half way to goal for a decade on it.

I first posted on June 24, 2022. I'm back again, and now, Sept 2022, plan to use '72 again. I first used '72 many years ago, gave away the excess weight and fat, and kept it off until about 2 years ago when I became ill and my DD moved me in to her home. So I've been off plan for about two years. It's beyond time to get back to it.
I started Sept 24, and other than a few boo-boos, have done ok. Those errors were cocoa and diet pepsi, a few walnuts, cauliflower salad, and a bit of avocado. I didn't know caffeine is a no-no, so I am eliminating my pepsi, but will get the caffeine free version, and cocoa, and the others until after induction.

Breakfast was an omelette of 1 egg, bacon bits, shredded greens, mushrooms. Maybe I need to eliminate the mushrooms for now, too.

snack, HB egg and mayo, an ounce of cheddar cheese

lunch, chicken salad with shredded greens

snack HB egg and mayo

supper, hamburger?

It happens that I just had a complete blood panel done Sept 22. I am low on Vit D, so getting an rx for that, a bit high on both cholesterol and glucose, I expect /hope this Atkins will correct those.

The prescription Vit. D is usually the D2 form and it did nothing for me. Tried for years! There is a lot of info on Vit D 3 here in both the Supplement forum https://forum.lowcarber.org/showthread.php?t=452398 and a buddy group linked within this thread.

I try to get mine first from sun and then from food. Food sources listed here: https://optimisingnutrition.com/vit...ods/#more-18550 I still take an OTC D3 supplement in the winter because as a cancer survivor Want to keep level high, around 80, and measure it with a blood test 1-2 times a year.

Also, take D3 with K2 (both in gelcaps is best) and they work together wonderfully. Muenster has some D and is a favorite cheese.

Eating real food made a huge difference for me. I have a low appetite problem when my illness is flaring.

Unhappy well, gee...

I wanted to do Atkins '72 because it works for me, but in the last 6 days on Induction, I've also had unsweetened almond beverage, cauliflower and broccoli, romaine, hershy's cocoa, a hot dog (3c) another sausage, and braunschweiger 0c I think. So not totally clean, but mostly.

.........a miss is as good as a mile...

What did you "miss"?
New versions of Atkins allow unsweetened almond milk. 3 cups of salad and veggies, and processed meats without sugar or starchy fillers, 4 oz cheese.
