Default insulin resistance and hypothyroidism

Can anyone give me some info on this. I had a 3 hour fasting blood glucose done several months ago and my doc said it was pre diabetes. My levels were not the far from normal, just a few points. Later i was diagnosed with hypothyroidism. My question is which one caused which one and what do I need to talk to my doctor about?

It's a good question, kenzy, but there's no real connection for sure. If there is a relationship between the two things, it's not proven, as far as I know. The one link I've heard of relates to having PCOS - there is a theory, again not proven, that there may be some autoimmune problem relating to PCOS that takes out the thyroid. It would explain my own problem.

Yes, I have 'em both, too, so at least you're not the only one.

If you exercise regularly, and especially if you low carb, you'll keep diabetes away. As for the thyroid, well, just have it checked regularly.
