How I wish this were true! At least it should tell us that exercise has a part in healthy living.

Maybe it is true for rats. That's about all the study shows and as I am not a rat I will ignore it.

It would also be interesting to see the disclosures (if any) of the authors who did this study. Cannot tell from the information provided.
I am tempted to 'smell a rat'.

Professors of Sports Physiology at Mizzou need to justify the existence of their department?

Dr Noakes is beyond that in his career.

No wonder the public is constantly confused with conflicting messages being published. I'm hoping the audience for this one is tiny. Exercise promotes health. Exercise is not the key to preventing or eliminating obesity.

Well there are certain vested interests (e.g. Coca Cola) who deliberately engage in spreading this type of confusion by funding scientists to do studies which try to shift the blame for obesity away from their products.
The number one question to ask when a study like this appears is 'what are the study authors disclosures'. The article doesn't tell us and that's why I 'smell a rat' about this.
