Carolyn, thanks for that article. I have been doing JUDDD solely for improving health.

I have always been the only one in my family who could look at food and gain weight but w JUDDD I have to be careful not to lose....it's a challenge but I feel so much better.

I've been making gluc pudding and have come up w a gelatine/gluc combo that is good;
1 c almond milk w 1 1/2 t dissolved in it then cooled to room temp.
1 c almond milk added then 1 t gluc whisked in quickly along w flavors/sweeteners.

Refrigerate til set.

I use an electric whisk attatchment to my stick blender which works fabulously.

Today I have chocolate which turned out like mousse.

I wish you much success, BlueSojrn! Long-term would be so wonderful.

You're welcome, jem51.

Unfortunately, my entire family (on both sides) can just look at food and gain weight. My mother and paternal grandmother were both overweight or obese for their entire adult lives and only achieved normal weights in the 80s due to poor health. Both were (and my mother still is) so happy to be thin. I'd like to be thin and healthy long before I reach 80.

Thank you for the gluc pudding recipe. I hope that my gluc arrives soon. I'm looking forward to trying it.

Welcome to our little JUDDD experiment, BlueSojrn. Hope to get my last 18lbs off with this approach as low-carb as I can do it. Hardest part for me, and what I've been craving is butter, believe it or not. So I make sure to eat a piece of low-carb bread drowning in butter on ever UP day. I've been at it a month now and am down 8#. I bounce up to and held steady at 160 for two weeks, but the scale dropped back to 157 today, so I'm pleased the WHOOSH fairy stopped by. It's an UP day today. Yesterday was a rough DD. First time all month I went over my DD calories (by 100). But the scale rewarded me today and washed away my guilt.

Good luck with your JUDDD journey. Let us know how its going.

I'm having a wonderful DD. My glucomannan powder arrived today and I couldn't wait to try it. I made a simple pudding with the powder, almond milk, water, liquid splenda, and coconut flavoring. It was very good! Between that and the homemade chicken vegetable soup that I just ate, dinner (all 200 calories of it) has me stuffed.

That gluc pudding really fills me up. Not the tastiest stuff in the world, but well worth it to get that "fuller than a tick" feeling when you stomach aches for something to eat.

Yesterday was my 6th DD. I didn't wake up hungry this morning. It's funny that after a down day I consistently have not woken up hungry but after an up day I'm almost always hungry the next morning. It seems that eating "normally" makes me hungry to eat more the next morning (even though normal for me is still low carb).

Well, I made a REALLY valiant attempt at 500 calories yesterday. I had 3 Atkins shakes and 2 HB eggs. Then I tried to make a pudding out of shiritaki noodles although it was more like a shake. Anyway, I felt rather nauseated after that and had some almonds to calm my stomach.

The morning was the worst. I was terribly hungry until around 12pm. After that, I did a lot better.

I'm like that, too. Hungry when I wake up after an UP day, too. Can't figure that out. I'm on a DD and all I've had so far is black coffee. Planning on a cabbage/bacon stir-fry for lunch; tofu shirataki noodle casserole with 2-3 oz. turkey breast and a bit of fat-free cream of chicken soup or Laughing Cow cheese wedges stirred in to moisten it all up. I may add a little onion, red pepper and mushrooms to that, too, if I can afford the calories.

Have a good one!

I'm going to stock up on shiritaki noodles. They'd be great for down days.

I think there is something to be said for avoiding chewing on down-days.

Yesterday was supposed to be a down day, but ended up being a medium day after having too many coffees with cream too early.
Today, it was green tea only, with ONE cup of coffee for lunch. Trying to hold out until dinner for the rest of calories. lol

I just received a package each of shirataki rice and angel hair pasta from Netrition... haven't used them yet.
Wonder how long it'll take before I actually do use them.

I have some shirataki noodles that I should use. I tried them when I bought them about 6 months ago. They were fine, but I never got around to eating the other packs. My pantry has too many things that I mean to use but don't get around to.

Congratulations on the valiant effort, Nancy LC! I might give not chewing a try tomorrow. Or maybe I'll eat the shirataki noodles.
