Plan: Atkins ~ DANDR
Stats: 230/230/150 Female 5 feet 4 inches
BF:it is going down!
Progress: 0%

Default Sb is not for me, I missed you!

I tried to move out, but I just can't do it. My body is so adapted to this WOE, that I felt the impact of switching up my diet. Yes, it was only a move to south beach, but I am not fond of gas (stinky at that), indigestion, or any of the other ailments. So.. sorry Atkins folks, your stuck with me!

Me too!
Funny how we think we can switch it up, and have it work..lol.
Atkins works for me....I can't add alot of the things that alot of the other plans allow....I can't even add some of the things that the later levels of Atkins allows.
Welcome back...hehe

I want to wish you the success you seek following Atkins, Sheila.

I'd like to ask you what foods as part of SBD, do you think made your body have these types of reactions?
I know that you were following phase I. Was it dairy? beans? veggies? It'd help to know these things.

Truth is, many who follow SB are lactose intolerant so avoid the dairy...or celiacs doing SB avoid the gluten grains.
I am not a big bean fan but do enjoy a serving of hummus.
I think that all of our plans ultimately need to reflect our body and its individual needs....and likes!!

I hope this thread doesn't turn into a bashing of SBD.

Sounds like you added gluten back in on SB. You might be fine with it if you avoid grains and get your carbs from non-grain things like sweet potatoes.

Everyone's body is different - that's for sure. I would think you must have an intolerance to some substance to have the indigestion/gas/ailments on the plan.

Good luck to you Sheila!

South Beach is a GREAT plan so I agree with Judy - I hope it doesn't turn into a bashing.

NO gluten!

I think I have issues with beans, excess veggies, and the only "extra" dairy I added was a carb control yogurt which I have had before. I do want to try some Sweet potatoe fries.... and really will try them on my own soon. I *know* things like veggies are good for you.... but right now my body is fighting, and I am tired of fighting it! Especially when I know what DOES work for me. Maybe in time I would like to try again, as I do think that SB is a great plan. Perhaps had I started with it rather then Atkins, I wouldn't have to be so selective, or perhaps... I would have never found the happy tummy that Atkins gives me.

Judy, I again thank you for all the answers to my questions, the patience with me, and for not giving up on me. I actually followed it 100% as it was written, so I feel good about the decision, and don't feel like I didn't give it a fair shot.

To all my Atkins buddies.. thanks for the welcome back! Now... let's rock this place! I am DETERMINED to hit my goal by the end of the year!

Well, beans are beans! I have had dairy give me gas too. Some really weird things mess up my digestion too, like butterleaf lettuce. Maybe all lettuces do but I really noticed on that one specific sort.

Don't feel pressured to eat vegetables! There's good and there's bad in vegetables. And the good is sometimes overrated:

Welcome back to the group. I keep thinking I will try south beach when I get closer to goal. But I just don,t have it in me to learn a new program right now and this one works.
