Default Gelatin powder

I bought a tub of Vital Proteins Beef Gelatin powder as I read somewhere that gelatin can help provide a diet closer to nose-to-tail (which I find difficult to achieve). The directions are to combine 10-20g with 4 fl oz of cold water and then add 6 fl oz of hot.

I would prefer a less voluminous way of ingesting it - has anyone got any suggestions?

I've tried a little straight in my mouth but it turns chewy and doesn't reduce. I'm considering making up capsules but will it gel up my stomach?

Hi Dan. When I add gelatin powder, I do it with hot liquids, usually soup, gravy or something saucy like pulled pork or a curry. You can just dissolve it into a bit of the sauce, then combine.

I'll also add it to sugar-free Jell-o. That makes it more solid, like jigglers, but it's fine. A lot of people make their own SF jelly with plain gelatin and flavour powders and sweeteners of choice.

Another idea is a hot smoothie - I think WereBear started a thread on this, but I can't find it (at a glance.) I have a chocolate protein powder mix that's actually chicken broth protein, and they suggest having it like hot cocoa. I've tried it a few times, it's pretty nice. I could easily dissolve gelatin into it (though being broth protein, it already contains a good bit.)

I mix a heaping Tbls (probably about 15-20 g) of gelatin into my first cup of morning tea. It changes the taste a slight bit but I’m used to it now and no longer notice. It would, I imagine, be even less noticeable with coffee. I put a couple of Tbls of cold water in my mug, add the gelatine, wait for it to dissolve, and pour in the tea. (I use a big mug; I like strong, hot tea in the morning, & prefer to not have to refill a bitty mug too often, so it is quite diluted).
