Unhappy New Year's Fear!

Help!
My partner just brought our New Year's Eve Ball tickets over tonight & I have big fears about the food. He says I'll be fine, but only 4 days into induction & I smell some irresistible carbs lurking around that party corner!!
It's a Chinese/ Caribbean event. I'm certain that there will be great food, however, since I'm a sucker for Chinese / Latin American food, I'm worried. My partner suggested that I eat a small LC meal at home before we go & that way I won't be tempted by the things that shouldn't interest me - rice, noodles, pork buns, etc.
Any other suggestions out there?
Nervous in Toronto.

Your partners advice is very good, but eat a filling and satisfying LC meal before you go.

It takes a while to be free of the temptation of carbs and you don't want to wake up the next day feeling like an idiot. You don't have to eat at the function. You are the one driving your low carb destiny!

I find that a good dose of "visualization" helps.

In a quiet moment, close your eyes and project yourself to the drive home after the New Year's event. What do you want to be thinking to yourself then?

a) I can't believe how dumb I was scorfing back all that rice, what is wrong with me? I'm just pitiful. I'll never be any good.

or

b) Wow, am I amazing. Walked right past that rice bowl about 100 times! This is such a great way to start the New Year. Now I KNOW I'm going to be able to succeed.

Life is all about choices.

Talking Keeping the carbs away

Good advice! Thanks.

LC Sponge - I'll take option b).

I think I'll eat at home. I feel a little bad about doing this to my partner - the tickets were $85 a piece - but I know he'll understand. He's been really great about this LC'ing of mine.

I have another question about Champagne...what's the deal? I know from a past life as a bartender that it is loaded with sugar. Can I have any at the stroke of 12?
Thanks,
Charmaine

Alcohol - even a sip - can lower your resistance to carbs. There is a syndrome in LC, "the cheap drunk syndrome" that happens to many people who LC. One glass of wine can quickly put you over the edge. For some, drinking can lead to eating a whole pizza. But, everyone is different, and you'll find different opinions on this.

I would toast the new year, and then put the glass down.
