Question Green tea....caff or decaf??

I have heard about green tea being a diuretic and I love tea anyway so I am wondering should I drink the caf or decaf version? I have heard that to get the benefits you have to drink the caf but since you arent supposed to have that on Atkins what do I do?? I dont normally drink caf anyway and if I did I may get the caf headache which to me is not worth it. Thoughts anyone??
Donnie

Thats right, to get the benefits it does have to be caffeinated. Some people do not give up caffeine on the diet while others do. Its a personal choice for everyone. I don't have the caffeine because it stalls my weight loss and a few others will say the same. It doesn't affect everyone int he same way. I personally would have the decaffeinated but since it has no benefits, I don't drink it at all.

Decaf GT does have the same benefits, but you have to drink about twice as much of it to get them. That's a lot of tea!

A possible alternative would be to drink the odd cup of decaf, but to take the supplemental form of the extract for the metabolic boost. The pill form usually has less than 3mg of caffeine and is the equivalent of drinking 7-10 cups of the actual tea. The only thing you have to look for is that the extract is standardized to 60% polyphenols. In Canada, Organika makes a fantastic product that's standardized to 95% at a reasonable price.

I am taking the One a Day Weight Smart vitamin that contains green tea extract and it says 27 mg but it doesnt say anything about it being standardized. Do you think that is probably enough?

Donnie, it all depends. Green tea has many beneficial properties, so I'm sure you're getting some of them (anti oxidant, anti arthritic, anti carcinogenic, anti fungal, cholesterol lowering), but to get that metabolic boost you typically need between 125-500 mg a day, depending on how well it's been standardized.
