Over on this thread (
http://forum.lowcarber.org/showthread.php?t=465151) I posted a whole bunch of blood test results.
The Cholesterol numbers are NOT good.
*Lipid Panel w/ reflex to Direct LDL/A*
Value __ Ref. Range __
Cholesterol, Total 263 __ 100 - 199 __ 165% H
Triglycerides 84 __ 0 - 149 __ 56%
HDL Cholesterol 47 __ 39 - __
VLDL Cholesterol Cal 17 __ 5 - 40 __ 34%
LDL Cholesterol Calc 199 __ 0 - 99 __ 201% H
T Chol/HDL Ratio 5.6 __ 0 - 5 __ 112% H
You'll notice the LDL is..... 199! WTH?!!
Low carb guru's might say, "Well a lot of that is VLDL which doesn't count." Unfortunately I got that measured too and it was only 17*.
What's going on here? I know some will say "Don't worry about it" but it's too late. I'm worried.
Also, other than taking drugs, what can I do about it?
* At least I think it was measured. I wanted it measured. The description says "VLDL Cholesterol Cal" which has me wondering if they actually measured it or if the SOP is to calculate it from Tri's, LDL and HDL. If that's the case then someone is going to have to tell me the CPT code I need or I'm going to go find it myself and have the test done.
